Why Tamil Nadu families choose online coaching

Tamil Nadu has a prominent place in Indian chess and is the home state of Viswanathan Anand, India’s first Grandmaster. Chess is familiar in many schools and communities, from Chennai to cities and towns across the state.

Live online coaching helps families find a suitable FIDE-rated coach without being restricted to their neighbourhood. It also keeps weekday learning consistent when school schedules, traffic, or distance make centre visits difficult.

Chess for kids in Tamil Nadu

The state has India's deepest competitive chess environment, supported by district activity and the Tamil Nadu State Chess Association. Chennai alone is home to Viswanathan Anand and produced world champion D Gukesh and GM R Praggnanandhaa, and school programmes feed one of the world's busiest junior tournament calendars. Children can train online during the week and use school or local over-the-board play to gain practical experience.

We had been searching for a chess class online for our sons. Suddenly on instagram , we saw the ad for chesswize and connected with the them. The demo was really good and we started the classes for our almost 4.7 year old son. Ankit Rajoriya Sir engaged him really well , he very knowlegeble in his field. His classes are well structured and he teaches the concepts in simple and engaging manner. My son has started loving chess and has started applying the strategies. The environment of the class is really positive where kids feel safe asking questions and their queries are answered well. We truly appreciate his professionalism, dedication, and commitment towards his students. We highly recommend Chesswize and Ankit Rajoriya Sir to any parent looking for chess classes for their kids.

We are very happy with the coaching at Chesswize, especially with our son’s teacher, Ankit Rajoriya. Ankit sir is a wonderful coach especially for younger kids.He knows the game deeply but also teaches with patience, encouragement, and real passion. He explains ideas in a clear and easy way, so children can understand and use them in their games. His classes are well-planned, fun, and motivating. Since our son started learning with Ankit sir, we have seen big improvements in his chess skills, thinking ability, focus, and confidence. He creates a friendly environment where kids feel comfortable asking questions and are inspired to keep getting better. We truly value his dedication and care for each student. We strongly recommend Chesswize and Ankit Rajoriya sir to any parent who wants quality chess coaching for their child.

Coach Ankit has been amazing for my 8-year-old. He’s super friendly and explains chess rules in a way kids actually get. My son looks forward to every Chesswize class now. He motivates him to do better without any pressure, and I’ve seen fast improvement in both his game and confidence. Highly recommend Ankit for young beginners!

Online chess classes in Tamil Nadu: common questions

What is the fee for children’s online chess classes in Tamil Nadu?

Classes start from Rs 375 per class for ages 5–15. Parents can choose 1:1 coaching or a live group with no more than six children, in English or Hindi, with one regular coach and a weekly WhatsApp report. The 30-minute demo is free with no payment. Unused classes are refundable according to the plan terms.

Is online chess suitable in a strong chess state, and is there a ChessWize centre here?

ChessWize has no offline centre in Tamil Nadu; every class is live online. A FIDE-rated coach can still observe moves, discuss plans, and review complete games in real time. Online training and local over-the-board play serve different purposes: lessons build skills, while school and district events give children practice handling physical boards and clocks.

Can ChessWize support a Tamil Nadu child who already plays school tournaments?

Yes. The coach first checks the child’s present level, then works on relevant tactics, calculation, openings, and game analysis rather than repeating beginner material. Children can bring games from school or local competitions for review. The same weekly coach sees recurring mistakes, and the parent report records the focus for home practice.
