Where Telangana children enter official chess
The All India Chess Federation names Telangana State Chess Association as the state affiliate, registration number 603/2015, with an office at Flat 205, Kubera Towers, Himayatnagar, Hyderabad. That body describes itself as the governing body of chess in Telangana and says it regulates all district chess competitions. Age-group championships for 2026 were listed at Hyderabad halls, and the Telangana State FIDE Rating Chess Championship 2026 was listed at SBIT in Khammam from 17 July 2026. Sportstar called Arjun Erigaisi the boy from Warangal after he crossed 2800 Elo, the second Indian to do so after Viswanathan Anand.

From online class to a first tournament
- Read Telangana State Chess Association notices for the age band that matches the child, because that body regulates district competitions across the state.
- Complete AICF registration so the child's papers cover 01 April to 31 March, then add TGCA registration for 2025-2026 if the circular you enter says both are compulsory.
- Treat the state Under-7 pairing dated 26 April 2026 at Yogahall, or the Under-13 pairing dated 6 August 2026 at Sundarayya Bhavan, as the documented first official age-group depending on age.
- Play one timed complete game online at a fixed weekday hour, then set the same position up on a physical board before a Hyderabad or Khammam hall round.
- Once those papers and one age-group are in hand, ask whether the SBIT championship starting 17 July 2026 is a sensible first FIDE-rated start.

Telangana has active school and organised chess participation, with much of the largest-city activity centred around Hyderabad. Children can train consistently online and use suitable local competitions for over-the-board experience. After the third session, no refund for the current billing period; cancel to stop future charges. Term packages (3 or 6 months): pro-rated refund minus sessions attended within 7 days of enrolling. After 7 days, no refund; remaining sessions can be completed within the term.
