What this Coimbatore class is
ChessWize is a live online chess class for children aged 5–15, offered to families in Coimbatore. A named coach teaches on a video call and shared digital board; this is not an in-person branch.
ChessWize is online only and has no local centre in Coimbatore.
Who the format fits
It fits families with a beginner through a rated player who can keep a recurring IST time agreed after the level check, want a group capped at six or a one-to-one lesson, and want one regular coach. It does not fit a family that needs a walk-in classroom in Coimbatore.
Coimbatore Chess Classes That Fit Around School and Traffic
Coimbatore evenings are already full. When school pickup ends in RS Puram and the workday runs late near Avinashi Road, a cross-city drive to a chess centre can take a large bite out of the evening, and that is before dinner and homework. ChessWize teaches children aged 5 to 15 live online instead, in skill-matched batches of 4-6 students or one to one. Whether your family is in Peelamedu, Saravanampatti, or Race Course, the class happens at your own table. One guarantee we keep without exception: Same coach every session - no rotation.
Every class is taught by a coach: Hrdyansh Pandey, Tarun Gupta, or Aryan Pal, working from a fixed roadmap ladder rather than improvised sessions. The results so far: 1,000 students coached, 1,500 parents on board, and an average of 4 months from first class to first tournament. Google reviews stand at 5.0 from 21 parents.
What convinces parents most is what changes outside chess. One mother says in her video: 'I can see the improvement in her concentration and the confidence level.' Her observation is a personal account, not a promise of academic improvement. A student describes the experience in a video: 'I truly enjoy the class, and it is fun and engaging.'
Start with the complimentary 30-min demo, which doubles as a level check before you commit, so you see the coach and the format before any payment. ₹2,500 covers 8 classes in the starter pack. After that, regular plans run from ₹375 to ₹1,000 per class depending on the plan. In Coimbatore, the 48-hour window on monthly plans lets you leave without keeping the month.
Chess in Coimbatore: district play with a selection route
Coimbatore has a clear example of district play leading into state competition. The Coimbatore District Chess Championship held on 12 and 13 April 2025 included Under-7, Under-9, Under-11, Under-13 and Under-15 categories. CDCA treated it as a selection tournament for the 2025 Tamil Nadu State Chess Championships. Its venue was Hindusthan College of Arts and Science on Avinashi Road, a useful reference when discussing local tournament experience with your child.

Eleven checks to make before enrolling
Each answer below is tied to the section that carries its proof, so a parent can verify the detail rather than rely on a slogan.
-
Check 1
Who teaches my child, and are they rated?
Your child is taught by experienced coaches: Hrdyansh Pandey, Tarun Gupta, and Aryan Pal. Ratings are listed openly because you should know exactly who sits across the board from your child before you pay anything.
See coaches -
Check 2
How many children share the coach?
Batches are exclusive and skill-matched, capped at 4-6 similarly-rated students, with intense peer play, group calculation, and team-based tactical work over synchronized 12-week cycles. If you want the coach's full attention, the 1:1 Analyst Protocol puts one coach on one child and targets the highest-value gap in that child's game.
See class size -
Check 3
Is there a real curriculum from beginner to rated play?
There is a written ladder from first moves to rated play: age tracks for ages 5-8, 9-12, and 13-15, plus beginner, intermediate, advanced, tournament-prep, and rating-improvement roadmaps. A beginner learns the board, legal moves, and finishing a complete game; an advanced student audits their own games, deepens calculation, and converts training into events.
See the curriculum -
Check 4
How will I know it is working?
You get a weekly WhatsApp report for every student, so you can see what was covered even if you do not play chess yourself. Groups are placed by working level and individual understanding is tracked, and the demo doubles as a level check so progress has an honest baseline from day one.
See progress reports -
Check 5
Is it safe, and can I see the classes?
Classes run live online from your home, so you can sit within earshot any week; nothing happens at a venue away from you. Younger children can have an adult nearby for the first few minutes. The weekly WhatsApp report tells you what was covered, and the same coach every session means your child always knows who is on the screen.
Read safety policy -
Check 6
Can we try before paying?
Yes. The complimentary 30-min demo is also a level check before you commit, so the coach maps where your child actually stands before any money changes hands. You see the coach, the batch, and the format first. Only then does the starter pack of ₹2,500 for 8 classes come into the picture.
See the level check -
Check 7
What if we stop?
A Coimbatore family can still undo a monthly enrolment within 48 hours for a full refund. Until session three a pro-rated refund minus sessions attended still applies, after which the month is kept and later charges can stop.
See refund terms -
Check 8
Will the timings fit our week?
Slots are arranged around your family's week from coach availability windows such as 4:30-9:30 PM IST or 9:30 AM-1:30 PM IST on other days. Because it is the same coach every week, moving a single class for a school event or exam is straightforward: message ahead on WhatsApp. No cross-town travel, so a tight Coimbatore evening still works.
See class times -
Check 9
What does it cost, exactly?
The 8-class starter pack totals ₹2,500. Once your child continues, regular plans run from ₹375 to ₹1,000 per class depending on the plan. The 30-minute demo and level check are complimentary, so you never pay to find out whether the fit is right.
See fees -
Check 10
Is there a path to tournaments?
Coimbatore District Chess Association is the body TNSCA lists. The district championship was held on 12 and 13 April 2025 at Hindusthan College of Arts and Science on Avinashi Road. It served as selection for the Tamil Nadu State Chess Championships. Look at the chosen event's own rules. On average, students reach a first tournament in about four months.
See results -
Check 11
What do I have to do at home?
Very little, and it does not need chess knowledge. Depending on age, five to ten focused minutes at the board, one saved game link, or one honest question from a played game gives the coach enough to work with. Around exams the coach can reduce the volume. Nothing here turns a parent into a second coach.

★★★★★
The resilience piece was unexpected — and the real win.
“We signed up for chess. What Ishita got was emotional self-regulation. Month one was all about learning to lose without falling apart. By month three she was analysing her own games after tournaments, pointing out where she'd blundered, calmly. Her results followed. But honestly, the composure is what I'll remember.”

She used to cry after every loss. Not anymore.
“Anika was playing 'casually' on chess.com and hanging pieces every game. First month the coach just drilled Checks-Captures-Threats. The dashboard is what sold me though. I don't know chess, but I can see exactly what she covered each week. Her play sharpened on its own by week eight.”

We are extremely happy with the quality of coaching provided by Chesswize, especially by our son’s chess teacher, Ankit Rajoria. Ankit is an exceptional coach who combines deep chess knowledge with patience, encouragement, and a genuine passion for teaching. He explains concepts in a simple and engaging manner, making it easy for young learners to understand and apply new strategies. His lessons are well-structured, interactive, and motivating. Since joining Chesswize and learning under Ankit’s guidance, we have noticed a significant improvement in our son’s chess skills, critical thinking, concentration, and confidence. Ankit creates a positive learning environment where children feel comfortable asking questions and are encouraged to continuously improve. We truly appreciate his dedication, professionalism, and commitment to each student’s growth. We highly recommend Chesswize and Ankit Rajoria to any parent looking for high-quality chess coaching for their child.

Read on Google →Why the online format fits Coimbatore
Coimbatore is a major industrial city in western Tamil Nadu, known especially for textiles, engineering, and manufacturing. Its location near the Western Ghats also makes it a gateway to the Nilgiris and neighbouring Kerala.
Families spread across Coimbatore and its growing suburbs do not need to plan another cross-city trip after school. Live online chess coaching brings small-group or one-to-one instruction home while keeping the session interactive with a coach.
Local chess context
Tamil Nadu has a strong education culture and a widely recognised tradition of chess achievement. Children in Coimbatore can build on that wider state interest through regular practice, guided game review, and a clear learning sequence.
Coimbatore's traffic between the Avinashi Road industrial belt and residential areas like RS Puram or Race Course can turn a short after-school errand into forty minutes each way. A live online class removes that variable entirely — the coach logs in at the same time every week regardless of which part of the city your child's school or home falls in.
Online and offline choices
An offline class close to home can work well if your child already has a coach nearby and just wants an in-person board. Online suits Coimbatore families better when the household is spread across the city, when evenings are tight after school and homework, or when you want to compare coaches without committing to whoever happens to be closest.

Questions from parents in Coimbatore
Did the Coimbatore district championship include younger children?
Yes, the April 2025 championship included Under-7, Under-9, Under-11, Under-13 and Under-15 categories. The event drew 561 players across 17 categories altogether, so that total covers the whole championship rather than just young children. It was held at Hindusthan College of Arts and Science on Avinashi Road.
Was the April 2025 district event also a state selection tournament?
CDCA treated the championship held on 12 and 13 April 2025 as a qualifying selection tournament for the Tamil Nadu State Chess Championships 2025. That gives parents a specific local example of district selection. For another edition, ask the association for that event's selection rules before entering.
How much do online chess classes cost in Coimbatore?
ChessWize classes start from ₹375 per class, billed as a package. There is a free 30-minute demo and level check first so you can see the coach and format before paying anything, and a monthly plan refunds within 48 hours of enrolling.
Is online chess coaching actually as good as an offline centre in Coimbatore?
ChessWize does not run a physical centre in Coimbatore — coaching is live online only. For most kids aged 5-15, a live video class with a coach, screen-shared board, and small batch of up to 6 works just as well as sitting across a physical board, and it removes travel from the evening entirely.
Is my child welcome in Coimbatore if they have never played chess before?
Yes. The free demo class is also a level check, so the coach figures out whether your child needs to start from the rules or can skip ahead. Batches are grouped by ability, not just age, so a complete beginner in Coimbatore is not mixed in with kids who already play rated tournaments.
What if my child's school timings clash with the class slot?
Slots are scheduled around your family's week, and since it is the same coach every week, rescheduling a single class for a school event or exam is straightforward — just message ahead on WhatsApp, where you also get a weekly report on what was covered.
What does a term of online chess lessons cost for a Coimbatore child?
Classes start from ₹375 per class, billed as a package. Before any payment there is a free 30-minute demo and level check, so you can see the coach and format first. The first step for most families is the starter pack at ₹2,500 for 8 classes, and in Coimbatore, refunds on the starter pack follow the published refund policy.
Is online coaching as good as an offline centre in Coimbatore?
ChessWize does not run a physical centre in Coimbatore; coaching is live online only. For most children aged 5-15, a live video class with a coach, a shared screen board, and a batch of up to 6 works as well as sitting across a physical board, and it deletes the evening drive between RS Puram, Peelamedu, or Saravanampatti entirely.
When can we reschedule if a class collides with school or exams?
Slots are fixed around your family's week, and because the coach stays the same each week, moving one class for a school event or exam is a simple WhatsApp message. The weekly report lands in the same chat, so a rescheduled week never leaves you guessing about what was covered.
Which coach will my child get?
Coaching is handled by experienced coaches only: Hrdyansh Pandey, Tarun Gupta, and Aryan Pal. Whoever your child is matched with stays fixed, so the person teaching week one is the person teaching week twenty, and the weekly report shows exactly what that coach covered.
Can a complete beginner in Coimbatore join without knowing the rules?
Yes. The demo doubles as a level check, so the coach works out whether your child starts from the board and legal moves or skips ahead. Batches are grouped by ability rather than age alone, so a child learning first moves is never mixed with kids preparing rated events.
Will I be able to follow my child's progress if I do not play chess?
You do not need to know the game. A weekly WhatsApp report arrives for every student, spelling out what was covered and where your child stands. Parents in Coimbatore use it as the main check on whether the class is working, and the level check at the start gives that report a clear baseline to measure against.
Does my child have a route to rated tournaments from Coimbatore?
Yes. Dedicated event preparation rehearses the format and the game plan before competition day, and rating-focused work targets whatever holds the number back. A child typically reaches a first competition within 4 months of beginning training. The coach will say when the level looks genuinely ready.
How big is each online batch, and can we choose one-to-one instead?
Group batches are exclusive and skill-matched, with strictly 4-6 similarly-rated students over synchronized 12-week cycles, so peer play stays intense and useful. If you prefer the coach's full attention on one child, the 1:1 Analyst Protocol maps the current game, targets the highest-value gap, and tests the change in play.
