Chess in Madhya Pradesh: understanding age-group selection
The All India Chess Federation lists the MP Chess Ad-Hoc Committee as the Madhya Pradesh member body. The 2025 state sub-junior selection was held on 29-31 August 2025 and described a route to the National Sub Junior U-15 championship. The 2026 junior championship was held on 15-18 August 2026 as a FIDE-rated eight-round Swiss. Does a state age-group event lead to national selection?
Some state circulars have an explicit selection clause. The 2025 MP sub-junior circular described selection for the National Sub Junior U-15 championship, including the top four boys from the open category. Read the selection wording on the particular circular you are considering, rather than assuming every tournament provides the same route.
Does player registration follow the school year?
AICF gives a fixed accounting-year period for player registration and renewal: 1 April to 31 March. The 2026 Madhya Pradesh junior championship circular specifically required valid registration for 2026-27. Check the registration year requested in your chosen event's circular before submitting an entry for your child.
