Is there a real curriculum from beginner to rated play?
Yes, the ladder runs from first moves to rated play. Tracks cover ages 5-8, 9-12, and 13-15, plus beginner, intermediate, advanced, rating-improvement, and tournament-prep. A beginner learns the board, legal moves, and opening principles before finishing complete games; an advanced student audits their own games, deepens calculation, and converts training into events.

Is it safe, and can I see the classes?
Every class is live and online, taught in English or Hindi, never a pre-recorded video, and it runs on your own laptop or tablet at home, so the session takes place where you can see it. There is no third venue involved. A weekly WhatsApp report tells you exactly what each session covered.

Yes. Every Sagar family starts with a complimentary 30-min demo, and it doubles as our 'Complimentary 30-min level check before you commit', so the coach measures your child's level before any money changes hands. You enrol only if the level and the coach feel right; the level check carries no fee.

What if we stop?
If online chess does not suit your child, a monthly plan from Sagar still allows a full refund within 48 hours of enrolling, then a pro-rated refund minus sessions attended before the 3rd session. After the 3rd session that month is not returned, and cancelling stops future charges. Term leftover sessions after 7 days stay available until the term ends, so start with the free demo before you enrol.

Will the timings fit our week?
Coach windows run in IST, which is Sagar's local time, so nothing needs converting. Options span 9:30 AM-1:30 PM, 12:30-5:30 PM, 4:30-9:30 PM, and 5:30-8:30 PM IST among others; after the level check we fix one weekly slot that stays with the same coach. India has no daylight saving shift, so the slot holds all year.

Is there a path to tournaments?
Yes. We train children through a dedicated tournament-prep level. On average, students reach a first tournament in about four months here. Jila Shatranj Sangh in Sagar was named organiser of the 3rd Kamlaram Memorial FIDE Rapid Rating Chess Tournament, scheduled at DPS Sagar on Khurai Road. Ask that district body about later play, and check the chosen event's requirements.

What do I have to do at home?
Your part at home is small and specific. Younger children do five to ten focused minutes: setting up the board, one piece's moves, two familiar positions. Older students save one serious game a week and bring one honest question from it. You never need to teach chess yourself; the coach sets and reviews the homework.
