Does playing in a UT junior event lead to national representation?
The 2025 UT Level Junior Chess Championships included Under-15, Under-17 and Under-19 boys and girls, and the report said selected players would represent Jammu and Kashmir at AICF nationals. The 2026-27 Under-15 and Under-19 event in Srinagar also served as a selection route. Ask for the conditions of the specific edition your child will enter.
Is AICF registration the same as entering a national event?
The 36th National Under-17 circular treated these as separate steps: participants needed AICF registration for 2026-2027 before registering entries on the AICF online portal. AICF's general registration guidance uses an accounting year from 1 April to 31 March. Check both the registration year and the event's entry requirements before submitting an application.
How much is online chess coaching in Jammu and Kashmir?
ChessWize classes start from ₹375 per class for ages 5–15. Families can choose live 1:1 coaching or a group of no more than six, in English or Hindi, with one regular coach. Parents get a weekly WhatsApp report. The 30-minute demo is free. Monthly plans: full refund within 48 hours of enrolling, then a pro-rated refund minus sessions attended before the third session. After the third session, no refund for the current billing period; cancel to stop future charges. Term packages (3 or 6 months): pro-rated refund minus sessions attended within 7 days of enrolling. After 7 days, no refund; remaining sessions can be completed within the term.
Is online chess suitable here, and do you have a centre in Jammu or Srinagar?
ChessWize is online only and has no physical centre in Jammu, Srinagar, or elsewhere in Jammu and Kashmir. Lessons are live and interactive, but a stable connection is genuinely important. Where available, school games or local events can add over-the-board experience that complements the calculation and game review done with the online coach.
Can lessons continue during winter when travel becomes difficult?
Online lessons avoid road travel, so they can be easier to maintain during winter, provided the home has reliable power and internet at class time. The regular coach and agreed weekly slot remain the same. If connectivity is disrupted, families should contact the ChessWize team rather than treating a missed live interaction as completed teaching.
