Jharkhand's competitive circuit runs under the All Jharkhand Chess Association (the AICF-affiliated state body), which holds the annual Jharkhand State FIDE Rating Chess Championship, whose 24th edition was played in Ranchi in 2025. Jamshedpur's Neeraj Kumar Mishra, an International Master since 1991 who served the state association as secretary for five terms, is among the state's notable titled players.

Does my child need separate state and district registrations?
AICF's decision took effect on 1 April 2021 and introduced a single player registration across India. It stated that separate district and state association registrations would end. For a family starting organised chess, that is the registration framework to read before working through an individual tournament's entry requirements.
How did state places work for the 2026 National Under-9 event?
The 2026 National Under-9 championships were held from 6 to 12 July in Ranchi. The prospectus allowed each AICF-affiliated state association to send two players in each category. Entrants needed AICF registration for 2026-2027 before registering through the national-entries portal, so the state quota and the registration requirement were separate parts of that edition's entry.
What are the online chess class fees for Jharkhand families?
Fees start from ₹375 per class for children aged 5–15. ChessWize offers live 1:1 coaching and batches capped at six, in Hindi or English, with the same coach weekly.
