What this Ratlam class is
ChessWize is a live online chess class for children aged 5–15, offered to families in Ratlam. A named coach teaches on a video call and shared digital board; this is not an in-person branch.

Class times for Ratlam
All class times are shown in India Standard Time (IST), and Ratlam follows IST year-round with no daylight saving, so no DST adjustment is needed. How many children share the coach?
Group batches are strictly 4-6 similarly-rated students, placed by working level so nobody sits lost or bored. Within the batch there is intense peer play, group calculation, and team-based tactical work across 12-week synchronized batches. Is there a real curriculum from beginner to rated play?
Yes. The ladder runs from beginner through intermediate and advanced to tournament preparation, with age tracks for ages 5-8, 9-12, and 13-15, plus dedicated rating-improvement work. Each level has a written roadmap: beginners learn the board, finish complete games, and find basic tactics; advanced students deepen calculation and convert training into events.

How will I know it is working?
You receive a weekly WhatsApp report for every student, every week, without asking. It shows what was covered and what comes next, so you can follow your child's improvement even if you do not play chess yourself. Rating-improvement students also keep a game sample and an error log, so the trend is visible in concrete positions rather than vague impressions.

Is it safe, and can I see the classes?
All sessions are live online with a vetted experienced coach, never prerecorded clips or unmoderated chat rooms. Your child learns from home under your roof, and you are free to sit in on any class and see exactly how the coach teaches. Nothing happens on the platform that you cannot observe as a parent.

Can we try before paying?
Yes. A complimentary 30-min level check before you commit lets your child meet the coach, play a little, and get an honest level reading at no cost. You can also test the timetable against your household's week during that call. Only after that do we discuss the starter pack or any regular plan.

What if we stop?
On a monthly plan from Ratlam, cancel within 48 hours of enrolling for a full refund; after that and before the 3rd session, a pro-rated amount minus sessions attended is returned. The current month is not returned after the 3rd session, yet later charges stop when you cancel. Term packages allow a refund minus sessions attended within 7 days of enrolling, and after 7 days leftover sessions stay available until the term ends, with the free level check still coming first.

Will the timings fit our week?
Coach availability windows run across the day in IST, from morning slots such as 9:30 AM-1:30 PM IST through afternoon windows like 12:30-5:30 PM IST to evening slots up to 9:30 PM IST. Because Ratlam stays on IST with no daylight saving, your slot never shifts. Railway and trading households with changing rosters usually fit best with a 1:1 plan.

What does it cost, exactly?

Is there a path to tournaments?
Yes. Tournament prep is one of our levels. On average, students reach a first tournament in about four months. In June 2025 the Ratlam District Chess Association and Rotary Club Ratlam held a district open with an Under-15 section at Rotary Hall. Ask that association about later play, and check the chosen event's requirements.

What do I have to do at home?
Very little is asked of you. For a five-to-eight-year-old, a short daily board moment beats a long block: ask the child to set up the pieces or show how one knight moves, then stop while interest is still high. Older students save one serious game a week for class and note one confusing moment. Any rule argued over at home becomes the next lesson's starting point.
