Why Raleigh families choose online coaching
Raleigh is North Carolina’s capital and part of the Research Triangle with Durham and Chapel Hill, where university, tech, and research employers shape family calendars. Indian-American professionals are a growing part of the Triangle workforce and school communities.
Coaches teach from India, so Raleigh weekday evenings are outside staffable hours. The US pilot only includes Eastern weekend-morning cohorts and a 7–8 AM ET pre-school weekday slot. That is a better match for Triangle households that can protect those windows than for families who only want a classic after-school class we cannot staff from IST.
Honest pricing
ChessWize keeps one price list in Indian rupees (from ₹2,500 for 8 classes). Your card is simply charged the equivalent in your local currency at checkout, so there is no separate or inflated overseas rate. At recent rates that is roughly $4–12 per class depending on the plan; the exact charge follows the live exchange rate.

Beyond the moves — the habits parents notice at home and school.
Focus that carries over
A full game is a 30–60 minute concentration workout. Coaches build it up gradually — most parents notice it first at homework time.
Confidence from real play
Wins are earned against real opponents, and losses get reviewed calmly with the coach — both build a child who isn't afraid to think.
Progress you can actually see
Every week your coach sends a WhatsApp report: what was taught, what improved, what to practise next.
Hear it from parents
Real ChessWize families, in their own words.
"We tried two other academies before ChessWize. The difference is the weekly progress report — I can actually see what's working. He's improved more…"

Chess for kids in Raleigh
Scholastic chess in North Carolina runs under the US Chess umbrella, and academic metros like the Triangle often treat chess as a serious co-curricular skill. Online coaching with a fixed FIDE-rated coach gives a clear weekly plan that can sit beside school clubs and any weekend rated events the family chooses to enter. Raleigh has an active scholastic circuit: nonprofits Raleigh Chess Academy and Triangle Chess run year-round classes, camps, school clubs and US Chess-rated events across the Triangle, including the Wake County Scholastic Championships. The city also hosts state title events — the 2025 NC K-12 Championship was played at the Raleigh Convention Center, and the NC K-12 Girls Championship is held annually at Ravenscroft School in Raleigh.
Online vs local classes in Raleigh
An in-person club is fine when distance and timing are easy. ChessWize has no Raleigh centre. Online is practical across Cary, Apex, and north Raleigh distances, with weekly WhatsApp parent notes and refunds on unused classes, still fully live rather than video libraries.

We had been searching for a chess class online for our sons. Suddenly on instagram , we saw the ad for chesswize and connected with the them. The demo was really good and we started the classes for our almost 4.7 year old son. Ankit Rajoriya Sir engaged him really well , he very knowlegeble in his field. His classes are well structured and he teaches the concepts in simple and engaging manner. My son has started loving chess and has started applying the strategies. The environment of the class is really positive where kids feel safe asking questions and their queries are answered well. We truly appreciate his professionalism, dedication, and commitment towards his students. We highly recommend Chesswize and Ankit Rajoriya Sir to any parent looking for chess classes for their kids.

Coach Ankit has been amazing for my 8-year-old. He’s super friendly and explains chess rules in a way kids actually get. My son looks forward to every Chesswize class now. He motivates him to do better without any pressure, and I’ve seen fast improvement in both his game and confidence. Highly recommend Ankit for young beginners!

Online chess classes in Raleigh: common questions
What fees should Raleigh parents expect?
Fees are billed in INR; you pay the USD equivalent — no fabricated local price list. Live 1:1 or max-six batches, same coach weekly, unused classes refundable. Start with a free 30-minute demo and level check; no payment required for that trial.
Is online coaching good enough here, and is there a physical ChessWize centre?
Online only — no Triangle branch. A FIDE-rated coach teaches live on video in English or Hindi for ages 5–15. Many families keep school chess for social play and use ChessWize for structured weekly lessons. Programme Google rating is 5.0 from 21 reviews.
How do classes fit around Research Triangle school and STEM calendars?
Staffed slots are weekend mornings ET and 7–8 AM ET weekdays only — not after-school evenings. That often avoids clashing with robotics, coding, and sports blocks. Confirm the hour on the free demo, and use weekly WhatsApp reports to track progress without extra parent meetings.
