What this Mehsana class is
ChessWize is a live online chess class for children aged 5–15, offered to families in Mehsana. A named coach teaches on a video call and shared digital board; this is not an in-person branch.
ChessWize is online only and has no local centre in Mehsana.
Who the format fits
It fits families with a beginner through a rated player who can keep a recurring IST time agreed after the level check, want a group capped at six or a one-to-one lesson, and want one regular coach. It does not fit a family that needs a walk-in classroom in Mehsana.
Live online chess for Mehsana children, taught by experienced coaches
If you live in Mehsana, you already know the trade-off. The city serves families from across north Gujarat, but specialist chess coaching usually means a recurring drive toward Ahmedabad or Gandhinagar after school. ChessWize brings the coach to your home instead: live online classes with experienced coaches, in batches of at most six children or one-on-one, at times that sit inside India Standard Time windows.
Your child keeps the same coach every session. That is a named guarantee: same coach every session, no rotation. It matters because a coach who sees your child weekly can place them correctly, whether they are five and learning how pieces move, or thirteen and preparing for district events through Gujarat's school and organised chess ecosystem.
In her video, Ruby says: 'His patience and his understanding in how to teach a young kid of six and a half years old is absolutely remarkable.' Ask your child to show you what they are practising between lessons. That weekly WhatsApp report is standard for every student, so you never have to guess whether the class is doing anything.
Start with a complimentary 30-minute level check before you commit. If you continue, the starter pack is ₹2,500 for 8 classes, and regular plans afterwards run from ₹375 to ₹1,000 per class depending on the plan. If you stop a Mehsana monthly plan, ask by email or WhatsApp within 48 hours of enrolling for a full refund.
Chess in Mehsana: school links and a local grandmaster
Mehsana has named school connections to Gujarat's chess body. The Gujarat State Chess Association lists Divine Child International and St. Xavier's School among its partner schools. A 2014 Times of India report identified Ankit Rajpara as hailing from Mehsana when he became Gujarat's second Grandmaster. GSCA lists him as a vice president. For a parent, the school links offer a concrete starting point for asking about chess activities.

- Arrange GSCA registration before entering a state-level tournament and check the AICF registration rules for the event.
Class times for Mehsana
All classes run on India Standard Time (IST), so there is no daylight-saving adjustment for Mehsana families. Coach availability windows across the week include 9:30 AM-1:30 PM IST, 11:30 AM-3:30 PM IST, 12:30-5:30 PM IST, 4:30-9:30 PM IST and 5:30-8:30 PM IST. Because the local time and the IST mapping are identical, what you read is exactly when the class happens. Evening windows suit school days; late-morning windows suit weekends and holidays.

Eleven checks to make before enrolling
Each answer below is tied to the section that carries its proof, so a parent can verify the detail rather than rely on a slogan.
-
Check 1
Who teaches my child, and are they rated?
Your child is taught by a coach. Our coaching team includes Hrdyansh Pandey, Tarun Gupta and Aryan Pal. Every session is live, so the coach responds to your child's actual moves rather than playing a recording.
See coaches -
Check 2
How many children share the coach?
Group batches are strictly 4-6 similarly-rated students, matched by skill, with intense peer play and group calculation. If you want the coach's full attention on one child, the 1:1 Analyst Protocol maps the child's current game and targets the highest-value gap.
See class size -
Check 3
Is there a real curriculum from beginner to rated play?
Yes. There are age tracks for ages 5-8, 9-12 and 13-15, plus beginner, intermediate, advanced, tournament-prep and rating-improvement roadmaps. A beginner finishes a complete game and learns opening principles; advanced students deepen calculation and convert training into events.
See the curriculum -
Check 4
How will I know it is working?
You receive a weekly WhatsApp report for every student, so you can see what was covered each week without knowing chess yourself. Coaches also review saved games and error logs, so improvement is tracked against your child's own positions rather than vague impressions.
See progress reports -
Check 5
Is it safe, and can I see the classes?
Classes are live online sessions led by a named coach, so you always know who is teaching your child. You can sit nearby or check in at any time, and the weekly WhatsApp report keeps you informed about what happened in each session.
Read safety policy -
Check 6
Can we try before paying?
Yes. We offer a complimentary 30-min demo, and it begins with a complimentary 30-min level check before you commit. The demo establishes your child's level, comfort and the right format, batch or 1:1, before any payment is discussed.
See the level check -
Check 7
What if we stop?
A Mehsana monthly plan keeps a full refund within 48 hours of enrolling, then a pro-rated refund minus sessions attended until the 3rd session, after which the current month is not refunded and cancelling stops later billing. Leftover term sessions stay completable within the term after the 7-day window closes.
See refund terms -
Check 8
Will the timings fit our week?
Coach availability windows run across the day in IST, from 9:30 AM-1:30 PM IST through 4:30-9:30 PM IST and 5:30-8:30 PM IST. Evening windows fit after school; late-morning windows fit weekends. Placement depends on age, level and schedule, not locality.
See class times -
Check 9
What does it cost, exactly?
The starter pack is ₹2,500 for 8 classes. Regular plans after the starter pack run from ₹375 to ₹1,000 per class depending on the plan. The free 30-minute demo comes first, before any payment.
See fees -
Check 10
Is there a path to tournaments?
Yes. Coaching builds toward over-the-board play. Mehsana appeared on the Khel Mahakumbh 2025 Under-11 girls starting list and on the SGFI Gujarat State Under-19 boys list. Ask the Gujarat State Chess Association which later event fits, and check its requirements. On average, students reach a first tournament in about four months after they start.

Check 11
What do I have to do at home?
Very little. For young children, five to ten focused minutes of board setup or two familiar positions is enough; stop while they are still interested. Children in the middle age group can save one slower game each week with a question to bring to class. The coach sets everything else.

Honestly, I was skeptical about online chess coaching.
“Aadvik hated sitting still for anything, and I thought a Zoom class would last two weeks max. It's been six months. Last Sunday his class teacher called just to ask what changed — his attention in maths has jumped. He now does his puzzles before I'm up. Coach Arjun has the patience I don't.”

The resilience piece was unexpected — and the real win.
“We signed up for chess. What Ishita got was emotional self-regulation. Month one was all about learning to lose without falling apart. By month three she was analysing her own games after tournaments, pointing out where she'd blundered, calmly. Her results followed. But honestly, the composure is what I'll remember.”

Read on Google →Why the online format fits Mehsana
Mehsana is a leading city of north Gujarat, with an economy associated with dairy, agriculture, and industry. It also serves as an education and administrative centre for families from the surrounding district.
Specialist extracurricular choices can be uneven across the city and nearby towns. Live online chess gives children access to experienced coaches without a recurring drive toward Ahmedabad or Gandhinagar after school.
Local chess context
Mehsana juniors participate through Gujarat's broader school and organised chess ecosystem. A consistent coach can turn games from isolated events into material for calculation practice, opening work, and honest post-game analysis.
Modhera's Sun Temple is a widely known district landmark, while Mehsana itself serves a broad rural and urban catchment. Online delivery makes the same planned curriculum reachable beyond a single central neighbourhood.
Online and offline choices
A close offline class offers social board play and may suit a beginner perfectly. Online becomes stronger when the family needs a specific level, language, or experienced coach not available nearby; occasional in-person play should remain part of development.

Questions from parents in Mehsana
Which Mehsana schools have a documented connection with GSCA?
Divine Child International and St. Xavier's School are both named by GSCA as partner schools in Mehsana. GSCA also describes workshops, seminars and intra-school tournaments across Gujarat. Ask the school directly about its chess activities and who may attend before planning a visit or expecting an event place.
Has Mehsana been represented in a state event for younger girls?
Yes. Mehsana appears in the Club/City field of the Khel Mahakumbh 2025 Gujarat State Under-11 girls starting list. That is a useful example of local participation to discuss with your daughter. Treat it as a past event record and consult a separate entry notice before choosing a competition.
What is the fee for children's online chess in Mehsana?
ChessWize pricing begins from ₹375 per class, with 1:1 and live batch options available. Groups contain at most six children so the coach can see each learner's decisions. The free 30-minute demo comes first and helps establish level, comfort, and a suitable format.
Do you operate an offline centre in Mehsana?
No. ChessWize has no physical branch in Mehsana; every lesson is conducted live online. A coach teaches and responds during the session, so this is not a video library. Local school clubs and events can complement the programme with physical-board play.
Can a child outside central Mehsana join the same batch?
Yes. Because teaching is online, children from the city and surrounding north Gujarat communities can attend without travelling to one address. Placement depends on age, playing level, and schedule rather than locality, and a batch never exceeds six students. A reliable device and internet connection are required.
Is there a ChessWize centre in Mehsana we can visit?
No. Every lesson is conducted live online, with a coach teaching and responding during the session; this is not a video library. Local school clubs and Gujarat events can complement the programme with physical-board play, and occasional in-person games remain part of healthy development.
Can children from towns around Mehsana join the same batch?
Yes. Teaching is online, so children across north Gujarat attend without travelling to one address. Placement depends on age, playing level and schedule rather than locality, and a batch never exceeds six students. You need a reliable device and internet connection, and the coach stays the same each week.
Will my child be placed with others at a similar level?
Yes. Batches are 12-week synchronized groups of strictly 4-6 similarly-rated students, placed by working level. Each week has one clear idea, children practise with peers, and individual understanding is tracked. If group pace ever feels wrong, the 1:1 Analyst Protocol is an alternative.
How does the level check work before we pay?
It is a complimentary 30-minute session with a coach. The coach assesses where your child actually plays, discusses comfort with online format, and recommends batch or 1:1. You get the recommendation before any commitment, and the starter pack of ₹2,500 for 8 classes only follows if you choose it.
Do the class timings work around school in Mehsana?
Yes. Everything runs on IST with no conversion confusion. Evening windows such as 4:30-9:30 PM IST and 5:30-8:30 PM IST fit after school and homework, while late-morning windows like 10:30 AM-2:30 PM IST suit weekends. Around exams, the coach can reduce homework volume without losing the training thread.
What happens if my child is shy in a group class?
Tell the coach, and the session format will be adjusted. A child can take part through written answers or moves on the board instead of speaking aloud. Ask what your child thought about rather than whether they talked, so shyness, language or pace never hides what they know.
Who exactly will be teaching my child each week?
A named member of our coaching team, including Hrdyansh Pandey, Tarun Gupta and Aryan Pal. The same coach stays with your child every session, which is a written guarantee, so the coach learns how your child thinks rather than restarting with a stranger each time.
Does my child need to know chess before joining?
No. The beginner roadmap starts from the board and legal moves and works toward finishing a complete game, using opening principles and finding basic tactics and endings. Age tracks for ages 5-8, 9-12 and 13-15 place your child with peers, and the free demo confirms the right starting point.
