Group classes run in skill-matched batches of 4-6 similarly-rated students on a synchronized 12-week cycle, and one child can take the 1:1 Analyst Protocol instead. The ladder is explicit. Beginners secure the board, legal moves, complete games, opening principles, then basic tactics and endings. Intermediate students sharpen tactical vision, weigh candidate moves, read positional clues, and connect their openings to endings. How will I know it is working?

Is it safe, and can I see the classes?
Every session is a closed call with one named coach, never a public room or an open chat room. Batches are capped at 6, nobody outside the class can contact your child, and a parent can watch any lesson. A child under 8 should have an adult close by for device help, and the child-safety page describes the checks coaches go through.

Can we try before paying?

Is there a path to tournaments?
The British Columbia Chess Federation lists the BC Youth Chess Championship and the BC Junior Championship. Surrey hosted the national youth championship in July 2025. The 2026 BC Championship is scheduled at the Comfort Inn and Suites on Fraser Highway in Surrey from 9 to 12 October 2026. Students in Surrey reach a first tournament in about four months on average.
