Why Leicester families choose online coaching

Leicester has the strongest large-city Indian concentration in the UK launch research: 126,421 residents, or 34.3% of the city, identified as Indian in the 2021 Census. It is the only launch city outside London and merits its own Midlands page on evidence, not borrowed capital-city context.

A citywide online class lets Leicester families choose coaching without narrowing the search to one side of the city. ChessWize’s India-based staffing supports UK weekend mornings; the usual weekday after-school period is excluded because it would extend too late into the Indian evening.

Honest pricing

ChessWize keeps one price list in Indian rupees (from ₹2,500 for 8 classes). Your card is simply charged the equivalent in your local currency at checkout, so there is no separate or inflated overseas rate. Your bank or card provider converts the INR charge to GBP at its applicable exchange rate.

What chess training builds

Beyond the moves — the habits parents notice at home and school.

Focus that carries over

A full game is a 30–60 minute concentration workout. Coaches build it up gradually — most parents notice it first at homework time.

Confidence from real play

Wins are earned against real opponents, and losses get reviewed calmly with the coach — both build a child who isn't afraid to think.

Progress you can actually see

Every week your coach sends a WhatsApp report: what was taught, what improved, what to practise next.

Who actually teaches

Chess for kids in Leicester

Leicester juniors can progress from regular training into the English Chess Federation’s ECF-rated event structure, while the school-based UK Chess Challenge offers a mass-entry national competition. That gives the city’s large family community practical outlets for the skills built in a weekend online lesson.

Online vs local classes in Leicester

Leicester families with a strong nearby club or school coach can sensibly keep that in-person setting. ChessWize does not operate a Leicester centre; it provides a fixed online FIDE-rated coach when specialist fit, small groups or avoiding another journey matters more.

We had been searching for a chess class online for our sons. Suddenly on instagram , we saw the ad for chesswize and connected with the them. The demo was really good and we started the classes for our almost 4.7 year old son. Ankit Rajoriya Sir engaged him really well , he very knowlegeble in his field. His classes are well structured and he teaches the concepts in simple and engaging manner. My son has started loving chess and has started applying the strategies. The environment of the class is really positive where kids feel safe asking questions and their queries are answered well. We truly appreciate his professionalism, dedication, and commitment towards his students. We highly recommend Chesswize and Ankit Rajoriya Sir to any parent looking for chess classes for their kids.

Coach Ankit has been amazing for my 8-year-old. He’s super friendly and explains chess rules in a way kids actually get. My son looks forward to every Chesswize class now. He motivates him to do better without any pressure, and I’ve seen fast improvement in both his game and confidence. Highly recommend Ankit for young beginners!

Online chess classes in Leicester: common questions

Does Leicester get weekday after-school chess sessions?

No. The confirmed Leicester schedule is Saturday or Sunday, 9:00 AM–12:00 PM UK time. Weekday 4:00–7:00 PM would be late night in India, so the page does not promise it.

Is the Leicester class connected to the English Chess Federation?

ChessWize coaching is an independent online service, not an ECF programme. The ECF is linked as England’s governing body and runs the rating and event structure in which children may separately choose to compete.

What does a Leicester family pay for the first session?

The 30-minute demo and level check is complimentary. If you continue, plans use the single INR price list from ₹2,500 for 8 classes, converted to GBP by your card provider.
