Class times for Harrow

How classes run

Is there a real curriculum from beginner to rated play?
There are age tracks for 5-8, 9-12 and 13-15, plus beginner, intermediate and advanced levels, tournament prep, rating improvement and online summer camps. A beginner learns the board, legal moves and opening principles; an advanced student audits their game, deepens calculation and converts training into events. Each level has a written roadmap, so you always know what comes next.

How will I know it is working?
Every student gets a weekly WhatsApp report, so you see what was covered and how your child is doing even if you know little about chess yourself. Coaches review real games your child brings to class, and rating-improvement students keep an error log that makes the trend visible over time. You are never guessing whether it is working.

Is it safe, and can I see the classes?
Classes are live video sessions in groups of no more than six or one-to-one, with a named coach and no open public chat. You are welcome to sit in on any session, and you receive a progress update after class. The programme is live teaching on a shared digital board, not a library of recordings your child watches alone.

What do I have to do at home?
Very little is required of you. Younger children do best with five to ten focused minutes: setting up the board, one piece movement, two familiar positions. Older children save a game link and arrive with one question of their own. If a rule causes confusion at home, note the position and send it to the coach, who settles it with a board example next session.
