How classes run

How many children share the coach?
Group classes hold to exclusive, skill-matched batches of 4-6 students, so your child trains with peers of a similar level rather than a mixed room. If you prefer full attention, the 1:1 Analyst Protocol is a private option where one coach works only with your child. Both formats keep the coach's focus close to the board.

Is there a real curriculum from beginner to rated play?
Every child is placed on a written roadmap that starts with the board and legal moves and climbs through beginner, intermediate and advanced stages to tournament prep and rating improvement. Age lanes for ages 5-8, 9-12 and 13-15 set goals such as building safe move habits or calculating forcing lines, so progress has a direction you can check.

How will I know it is working?
A written report lands on WhatsApp every week, telling you what your child covered and what comes next. The complimentary 30-minute level check records the starting point, and later reports show which gaps have closed. Over a term, those updates read like a map of improvement.

Is it safe, and can I see the classes?
Sessions are live video classes with a named coach, run one-to-one or in a group of no more than six, and there is no open public chat. You may sit in on any lesson and watch the shared digital board as it is used. Because teaching is live rather than a library of recordings, what your child experiences is visible to you.

Can we try before paying?
Every family starts with a complimentary 30-minute demo, which doubles as a level check before you commit, and no payment details are required to book it. The coach meets your child, gauges their current strength and recommends beginner, intermediate or advanced placement. If the fit is wrong, you have spent nothing.

What if we stop?
Hounslow still bounds a monthly plan with a full refund within 48 hours of enrolling, then a pro-rated refund minus attended sessions until the 3rd class. The month already started is then not returned, while a cancel still blocks later invoices. Starter-pack refunds follow the published refund policy, including classes already attended which stay billed.

What do I have to do at home?
Homework stays light and targeted. A beginner might set up the board and practise one mating pattern from both sides; an older child might save one serious game and mark the moment they felt unsure. You do not need to teach chess yourself: keep the login ready, encourage a short practice block, and let the coach set the rest.
