What this Malda class is
ChessWize is a live online chess class for children aged 5–15, offered to families in Malda. A named coach teaches on a video call and shared digital board; this is not an in-person branch.
ChessWize is online only and has no local centre in Malda.
Who the format fits
It fits families with a beginner through a rated player who can keep a recurring IST time agreed after the level check, want a group capped at six or a one-to-one lesson, and want one regular coach. It does not fit a family that needs a walk-in classroom in Malda.
Live online chess for Malda kids: same coach, visible progress
ChessWize teaches live online chess to children in Malda from age five through fifteen, in skill-matched batches of 4-6 students or one-to-one through the 1:1 Analyst Protocol. Your child's coach teach live: Hrdyansh Pandey, Tarun Gupta or Aryan Pal. Because the class happens at home, it stays on the calendar when mango-season mandi hours run long or a trade trip heads toward Siliguri or the Bihar border. The child is not waiting on a centre that only works if someone can drive at a fixed minute.
The training follows a real ladder. Twelve-week synchronized batches place similarly-rated children together, and roadmaps run from the ages-5-8 track through beginner, intermediate and advanced to tournament-prep and rating-improvement. Our staffing rule is plain: the same coach teaches every session, with no rotation, so the mentor who maps your child's gaps in week one is still the one closing them in week twelve. More than 1,000 students and 1,500 parents have come through ChessWize, and the average time to a first tournament is 4 months.
You do not have to take progress on faith. Divya says in her video: 'In one month, my son has shown immense progress in the game of chess.' Her experience is individual, so assess progress against your own child's starting point. Your own evidence arrives every week through our standing guarantee: Weekly WhatsApp report for every student, written by the coach who taught the class. The starting baseline comes from the Complimentary 30-min level check before you commit, and families currently rate us 5.0 across 21 Google reviews.
Money and timing stay simple. The starter pack is ₹2,500 for 8 classes, and regular plans after it are priced separately, from ₹375 to ₹1,000 per class depending on the plan. If a disrupted season means you need a break, Malda families can pause and the remaining sessions are kept. Booking opens with a free demo, and the weekly slot you choose holds for the run of the batch.
Chess in Malda: copying the 2025 zilla age groups
Malda Zilla Daba Sangstha is the district body listed at District Sports Association, Malda: 732101. That page also stated SBDS registration was mandatory. In 2021, Grandmaster Dibyendu Barua visited Malda District on 5 and 6 September. Malda Zilla Chess Championship 2025
Last updated 30 March 2025 · Malda
The page grouped players as Under 10 Group A, Under 15 Group B and Above 15 Open Group C, a clear local template for a first entry. [2]
Where to play
- District Sports Association. SBDS lists Malda Zilla Daba Sangstha at this Malda: 732101 address, the district contact point rather than a confirmed playing hall. [1]
From online class to a first tournament
- Contact Malda Zilla Daba Sangstha through the SBDS district table, which gives District Sports Association, Malda 732101, and ask how the 2025 zilla groups are being run.
- Use the 2025 grouping as a template: Under 10 Group A, Under 15 Group B, and Above 15 Open Group C, then ask which of those bands fits.
- Have SBDS registration ready, because the 2025 Malda zilla page stated that SBDS registration was mandatory.
- Between local dates, keep one serious online game each week at a set hour so travel to a state hall is not the first time your child faces a clock.
Good to know
- In 2021, Grandmaster Dibyendu Barua visited Malda District on 5 and 6 September, a historical visit rather than a standing local club session.
- The 2026 West Bengal State Under-9 prospectus says all players must complete SBDS registration for the year 2026-27, which still matters if you later enter a state age-group.

Eleven checks to make before enrolling
Each answer below is tied to the section that carries its proof, so a parent can verify the detail rather than rely on a slogan.
-
Check 1
Who teaches my child, and are they rated?
Your child is taught by a coach: Hrdyansh Pandey, Tarun Gupta or Aryan Pal. Whoever fits your child's level stays on: same coach every session, no rotation. Ratings, level check results and the weekly WhatsApp report all refer to the same mentor, so you always know who is teaching and what was covered.
See coaches -
Check 2
How many children share the coach?
Group batches hold 4-6 students, matched by working level, and run as 12-week synchronized batches so peers in the room are at a similar strength. That size means intense peer play, group calculation and team-based tactical work, with each child still getting individual attention. If you want the whole coach for one child, the 1:1 Analyst Protocol is a separate one-to-one format.
See class size -
Check 3
Is there a real curriculum from beginner to rated play?
Yes. Roadmaps run from first moves to rated play: age tracks for 5-8, 9-12 and 13-15, plus beginner, intermediate and advanced levels, tournament-prep and rating-improvement tracks, and a seasonal summer camp online. Each track has defined steps, for example the beginner roadmap moves from learning the board and legal moves to finishing complete games, using opening principles and finding basic tactics and endings.
See the curriculum -
Check 4
How will I know it is working?
Every week you receive a written WhatsApp report: what the class covered, what your child did well and what the next session targets. This is a standing guarantee, a weekly WhatsApp report for every student, so you never depend on the child's own summary. The level check gives the first baseline, and each report shows movement against it.
See progress reports -
Check 5
Is it safe, and can I see the classes?
Classes are live online sessions held at home, so your child is on your premises the whole time, and you can sit in or watch from the next room. The coach sees the board in real time through video. Because the same coach teaches every week, the adult your child meets in the free demo is the adult who continues.
Read safety policy -
Check 6
Can we try before paying?
Yes. A single complimentary 30-minute demo, in which the coach checks the level, is how you start without paying: the same session doubles as the level check and places your child on the right roadmap. No payment is required to try, and you decide after you have seen how your child responds.
See the level check -
Check 7
What if we stop?
A Malda monthly plan lets you cancel within 48 hours of enrolling for a full refund, then a pro-rated refund minus sessions attended until the 3rd session, after which the current month is not refunded and cancelling stops later billing. If a disrupted stretch means missed classes, cancel at least 4 hours ahead for a free make-up; refund requests go by email or WhatsApp with your enrolment details.
See refund terms -
Check 8
Will the timings fit our week?
Very likely. Coach availability windows run across the week in IST: early options like 9:30 AM-1:30 PM IST and 10:30 AM-2:30 PM IST, midday windows such as 12:30-5:30 PM IST, and evening slots including 4:30-9:30 PM IST and 5:30-8:30 PM IST. Because Malda sits on IST, the label and your clock match exactly, and the slot is fixed once booked.
See class times -
Check 9
What does it cost, exactly?
The starter pack is ₹2,500 for 8 classes. Regular plans after the starter pack are priced separately, from ₹375 to ₹1,000 per class depending on the plan. Both are quoted before you pay anything, and the free demo and level check happen first, so you know the numbers before money moves.

Check 10
Is there a path to tournaments?
Sara Bangla Daba Sangstha lists Malda Zilla Daba Sangstha as the district body. The Malda Zilla Chess Championship 2025 was listed with Under 10, Under 15 and open groups, and that listing required SBDS registration. Ask that zilla body about later play, and confirm the chosen event's requirements. On average, students reach a first tournament in about four months.
See results -
Check 11
What do I have to do at home?
Short and specific. Depending on age, plan on five to ten focused minutes for a 5-8 year old, or a weekly mix of a few tactics and one slower saved game for older children. Nothing heavy: set up the board, solve two positions, note one confusing rule or question and bring it to class. The coach turns that into the next lesson's starting point.

The resilience piece was unexpected — and the real win.
“We signed up for chess. What Ishita got was emotional self-regulation. Month one was all about learning to lose without falling apart. By month three she was analysing her own games after tournaments, pointing out where she'd blundered, calmly. Her results followed. But honestly, the composure is what I'll remember.”

She used to cry after every loss. Not anymore.
“Anika was playing 'casually' on chess.com and hanging pieces every game. First month the coach just drilled Checks-Captures-Threats. The dashboard is what sold me though. I don't know chess, but I can see exactly what she covered each week. Her play sharpened on its own by week eight.”

We are very happy with the coaching at Chesswize, especially with our son’s teacher, Ankit Rajoriya. Ankit sir is a wonderful coach especially for younger kids.He knows the game deeply but also teaches with patience, encouragement, and real passion. He explains ideas in a clear and easy way, so children can understand and use them in their games. His classes are well-planned, fun, and motivating. Since our son started learning with Ankit sir, we have seen big improvements in his chess skills, thinking ability, focus, and confidence. He creates a friendly environment where kids feel comfortable asking questions and are inspired to keep getting better. We truly value his dedication and care for each student. We strongly recommend Chesswize and Ankit Rajoriya sir to any parent who wants quality chess coaching for their child.

Read on Google →Why the online format fits Malda
Malda (English Bazar) is the headquarters of Malda district in northern West Bengal and is widely known as a mango-growing and trading centre. Historic sites of the medieval capitals of Gour and Pandua lie nearby, and the town sits on the busy corridor linking Kolkata with North Bengal and Bihar.
North Bengal logistics and wholesale seasons can make parent hours irregular, especially around agricultural trade peaks. A booked live online chess session stays on the calendar even when market days run long, so the child is not waiting on a centre that only works if someone can drive at a fixed minute.
Local chess context
West Bengal’s school culture treats board games and competitive co-curriculars as legitimate, and Malda students share that statewide frame even when specialist coaches are fewer than in Kolkata. Structured online lessons supply the mentoring depth district towns often lack.
Mango season and wholesale movement reshape daily traffic around English Bazar; a home live class keeps chess steady when the family’s work week follows the mandi more than a quiet residential timetable.
Online and offline choices
A local offline batch can suit beginners who live next door to a patient teacher. Online is stronger when home is far from the main school clusters, when a parent travels toward Siliguri or the Bihar border for trade, or when you want coaching quality year-round.

Questions from parents in Malda
Who runs district chess for a child in Malda?
Sara Bangla Daba Sangstha lists Malda Zilla Daba Sangstha at District Sports Association, Malda: 732101. That is the district body named in the affiliated-districts table. Use the SBDS website directory as the contact path. The 2025 Malda zilla page also stated that SBDS registration was mandatory, with a link to the SBDS player-registration page, so expect statewide papers even for a local grouping. Ask the zilla body which 2025 band maps onto your child's age.
What age groups did the 2025 Malda zilla event actually use?
Chess-results records the Malda Zilla Chess Championship 2025, last updated 30 March 2025. That page grouped players as Under 10 Group A, Under 15 Group B and Above 15 Open Group C. Those three bands are the documented local pattern, including an open group above 15. The hall itself is not named on that chess-results page, so ask Malda Zilla Daba Sangstha for the indoor address before you travel. Treat the grouping as a template, not as a promise that the same weekend repeats.
Did a titled player ever come to Malda for chess?
An SBDS news item of 6 September 2021 records that Grandmaster Dibyendu Barua visited Malda District on 5th and 6th September 2021. That is a historical visit, not evidence of a weekly coaching hall. FIDE records the title Grandmaster (GM) on that player's profile. For a child in Malda, the practical step is still the zilla body at District Sports Association, Malda: 732101, plus SBDS registration as required on the 2025 zilla page.
How much do online chess classes cost in Malda?
From ₹375 per class for ages 5–15. Live 1:1 or batches capped at six, same coach each week, WhatsApp parent report, and after the 3rd monthly session the current month is not refunded. The 30-minute demo is free with no payment required to try.
Do you run an offline chess centre in Malda?
We do not. ChessWize coaches only online — no Malda classroom or franchise. Real-time video means the coach sees the board live. Local school periods can continue for social play; online work covers planned tactics, openings, and review with one mentor.
Will classes fit if our family is busy during mango wholesale season?
Yes if you protect one short weekly slot at home. Sessions are scheduled with you, not tied to a market-area pin. Some families lighten intensity in the busiest trade weeks and resume fuller practice after; the free demo is where you set a realistic starting rhythm.
Does my child need chess experience before joining?
No. The beginner and age-specific roadmaps start from the board itself: learning legal moves, finishing a complete game, then opening principles and basic tactics. The complimentary 30-min level check tells us which rung fits, whether that is the ages-5-8 track or the intermediate level. Children who already play casually are placed by working level, not by age alone, so they are not repeating things they know.
What happens to classes during the busiest trade weeks?
You protect one short weekly slot at home and the session stays booked; it is not tied to a market-area pin or to anyone driving across English Bazar. Some families lighten intensity in the busiest weeks and return to fuller practice afterwards, and the coach adjusts homework to match. The free demo is where we set a realistic starting rhythm for your week.
How do we start, step by step?
Book the complimentary 30-min demo; the child plays with a coach and you watch how they respond. Then comes the 30-min level check, which places your child on a roadmap and sets a fixed weekly slot in IST. If it feels right, the starter pack of ₹2,500 for 8 classes begins the training; regular plans come later, from ₹375 per class.
Are parents allowed to sit in on the classes?
Yes. The class happens in your home, so you can sit beside your child, listen from the next room, or check in at the end. The session is live video, so what the coach teaches is what you see. Many Malda parents start by sitting in for the first few sessions, then step back once the weekly report gives them the summary they need.
Why choose online over a local offline batch?
A nearby offline batch can suit a beginner who lives next door to a patient teacher. Online is the stronger choice when home is far from the main school clusters, when a parent travels toward Siliguri or the Bihar border for trade, or when you want coaching quality year-round. Specialist coaches are fewer in district towns than in Kolkata, and structured online lessons supply that mentoring depth without the commute.
What equipment do we need at home for the class?
Very little: a device with an internet connection, a chessboard and a notebook. The device and connection need testing once before the first session, and the coach can help interpret any setup questions. Keep the login ready a few minutes early so the class starts on time. Younger children may want an adult nearby for the first few minutes.
Who will teach my child each week?
One of our experienced coaches: Hrdyansh Pandey, Tarun Gupta or Aryan Pal, matched to your child's level and kept in place for the run of the batch. No swap midway. Because the same mentor continues, the level check, the weekly report and the homework all come from one person who knows your child's game.
Is there homework between sessions?
Light and short. For a five to eight year old, a few focused minutes with the board does more than a long block: set up a position, solve two familiar problems, stop while the child is still interested. Older children mix a few tactics with one slower saved game, and the coach sets tasks that match errors from the last class.
Will a shy child cope in a group batch?
Yes, and there is room to start quietly. Participation can begin with written answers or moves on the board rather than speaking up, and the coach watches for children who know more than they say. Tell the coach if shyness, language or pace gets in the way, and the weekly report will show how your child is actually contributing.
