What this Korba class is
ChessWize is a live online chess class for children aged 5–15, offered to families in Korba. A named coach teaches on a video call and shared digital board; this is not an in-person branch.

And if work shifts or plans change, a Korba monthly plan allows a full refund if you cancel within 48 hours of enrolling.

From online class to a first tournament

- If your child is 15 or close to it, treat the Korba Under-17 and Under-19 FIDE rated championship as the documented older-junior state board, held at the CSEB Senior Club in August 2025.
- Complete AICF player registration for the 1 April to 31 March accounting year before a FIDE rated state championship.

Class times for Korba
Korba runs on India Standard Time (IST) all year with no daylight saving time (DST) shift, so every window reads the same on your clock and in IST. Coach availability spans the week: a morning window at 9:30 AM-1:30 PM IST, midday windows around 11:30 AM-3:30 PM IST and 12:30-5:30 PM IST, and evening windows such as 4:30-9:30 PM IST and 5:30-8:30 PM IST. We fix one weekly slot with you, and the same window holds each week, which suits shift-work routines in the power-and-mining townships.

How classes run

How many children share the coach?
Batches hold 4-6 similarly rated students so peer play stays genuine and the coach can track each board. If you prefer full attention, the 1:1 Analyst Protocol gives your child a private session with targeted homework drawn from their own games. Either way the coach knows every child's game, not just the loudest one.

Is there a real curriculum from beginner to rated play?
We work from a written ladder: beginner, intermediate and advanced tracks, plus dedicated tournament-prep and rating-improvement streams, with age lanes for 5-8, 9-12 and 13-15. Each stage has concrete goals, from finishing a complete legal game to building a repertoire and converting training into events. Your child moves up when the goals are met, not when the calendar says so.

How will I know it is working?
Every student receives a weekly WhatsApp report: lesson topics, how your child played, and practice points for the week ahead. Because the coach stays the same, the report tracks one continuous plan rather than a string of unrelated sessions. You can message questions directly, so you never have to guess what happened in class.

Is it safe, and can I see the classes?
Classes run live at home, so you can sit in or stay nearby whenever you wish; many parents drop in on the first sessions to see the format. The coach is a fixed, identified person each week, not a rotating stranger, and every session is live rather than an unwatched video course. If anything feels off, you message the coach or us directly.

Can we try before paying?

What if we stop?
If work shifts change your week, a Korba monthly plan allows a full refund within 48 hours of enrolling, then a pro-rated refund minus sessions attended until the 3rd session, after which the current month is not refunded and cancelling stops later billing. Ask us to pause for exams, holidays or travel, and the remaining sessions are kept.

What do I have to do at home?
At home the ask is light: short, focused practice beats long blocks. Set up the board, solve a couple of positions, or play one slower family game where the child explains a choice.
