ChessWize is a live online chess class for children aged 5–15, offered to families in Sharjah. A named coach teaches on a video call and shared digital board; this is not an in-person branch.

How many children share the coach?
Group batches are skill-matched groups of 4-6 similarly-rated students on a 12-week cycle, so peer games happen between children near the same level. A child who needs the coach alone gets the 1:1 Analyst Protocol instead. A Sharjah child is placed after the level check, so you can judge whether peer play or private attention suits the level and the week before you commit.

Is there a real curriculum from beginner to rated play?
The ladder is real. Beginners first secure the board, then legal moves, then whole games, then opening principles and first tactics and endings. Intermediate work makes tactical vision steady, trains candidate moves, positional clues, and the link from opening to endgame. Advanced study audits the player's own games, deepens calculation, and converts training into events. Age bands 5-8, 9-12 and 13-15 run alongside a tournament-prep track.

Is it safe, and can I see the classes?
Every class is a live scheduled call with the named coach, never an open room and never a library of recordings. Batches are capped at 6, there is no public chat with strangers, and parents may sit in from the same device. An adult stays within reach for younger children at the start. Is there a path to tournaments?
On average, students reach a first event in about four months. Apply to the UAE Chess Federation for a FIDE ID with an Emirates ID, passport and a recent photograph. Sharjah Cultural Chess Club hosted the 2025 Masters with 350 players from 60 countries; ask the club which later junior event fits, and check that event's requirements.

What do I have to do at home?
Keep a laptop or tablet, steady internet and a quiet table ready before class. Between classes the coach sets one focused task: a couple of positions, one saved game, or a question to answer. For ages 5-8, five to ten focused minutes beat a long enforced block, and it matters more to stop while the child is still interested than to fill the clock.
