What this Dubai class is
ChessWize is a live online chess class for children aged 5–15, offered to families in Dubai. A named coach teaches on a video call and shared digital board; this is not an in-person branch.
ChessWize is online only and has no local centre in Dubai.
Who the format fits
It fits families with a beginner through a rated player who can keep a weekly class with the same coach, want a group capped at six or a one-to-one lesson, and want one regular coach. It does not fit a family that needs a walk-in classroom in Dubai.
One fixed chess hour in a Dubai week
A Dubai evening already carries the school run, homework, and a drive that can stretch from Karama or Al Nahda across town. Adding another centre trip competes with the hour you hoped would help. ChessWize is live online only: there is no centre in Dubai to walk into. The class happens at your own table on a video call with a named coach. That removes the commute and leaves a fairer worry about screens. A coach who asks your child to pause, calculate, and say why a move works makes the hour active, which is what the first session lets you judge.

Chess in Dubai: age-group events and the Al Mamzar club
Dubai Chess and Culture Club hosted age-group events that show which sections a young player might meet. The club hosted the UAE individual championship in July 2026, including Under 8 and Under 10 sections. The UAE International Youth Chess Cup was held in Dubai from 24 to 31 August 2026, with Under 14 Open and Girls sections. The UAE Chess Federation and the club publish later calendars. - Start with the Dubai Chess and Culture Club website and ask about an event suitable for your child's age and playing experience.

- If preparing a FIDE ID application, use the UAE Chess Federation form with an Emirates ID, passport and recent photograph.

Class times for Dubai
Families in Dubai book classes in their own time zone, during their local working day. The exact time is chosen when you book the free demo.
Dubai stays on Gulf Standard Time all year. The UAE does not change its clocks, and India is an hour and a half ahead. You set the weekly hour on the free demo, and the same coach keeps it.

Group classes run as skill-matched batches of 4-6 similarly-rated students on a 12-week cycle, and the individual track is the 1:1 Analyst Protocol. A Dubai child is placed after the level check, so you can judge whether peer play or private attention suits the current level and the family's week.

Is there a real curriculum from beginner to rated play?
Beginners secure the board, legal moves, complete games, opening principles, and basic tactics and endings. Intermediate work stabilises tactical vision, candidate moves, positional clues, and opening-to-endgame links. Advanced study audits the player's own games, deepens calculation, refines repertoire, and converts training into events. The demo shows where a Dubai child enters that ladder.

How will I know it is working?
The weekly WhatsApp report tells you what was taught, what needs work, and what to practise, without you sitting through the hour. The roadmaps name observable habits at each level, from legal play to candidate moves and reviewing a loss, so progress is not one win-loss column.

Is it safe, and can I see the classes?
Classes are scheduled live calls with a named coach, not an open room or a video library. Batches are capped at 6, there is no public chat with strangers, and parents may sit in. A Dubai household can still walk away from a monthly plan within 48 hours of enrolling and receive a full refund. Past that mark and before class three the refund is pro-rated minus sessions attended, then the month is kept and later charges can be stopped.

Is there a path to tournaments?
The UAE Chess Federation issues a FIDE ID for a Dubai child; its form needs an Emirates ID, a passport and a recent photograph. Dubai Chess and Culture Club in Al Mamzar held the 25th Dubai Open from 26 May to 5 June 2025 and first staged that Open in 1999. Ask Dubai Chess and Culture Club about later events, and check that event's requirements.

Dubai is home to a large, long-settled Indian community, and many families here already look to India for tutoring and enrichment classes outside school hours. Bur Dubai, Karama, Al Nahda and Discovery Gardens are among the city’s heavily Indian residential areas, so the same at-home option can serve families across both older hubs and newer communities.
Because India is only 1.5 hours ahead of the UAE, a normal Dubai school-day evening lines up cleanly with a normal coaching evening in India. You pick whichever fits your child's homework and activity schedule better.
Local chess context
Dubai has one of the strongest junior chess ecosystems in the Gulf. ChessWize does not run a physical centre in Dubai or anywhere else — coaching is online only, everywhere.
