Class times for Dehradun
All class times run on India Standard Time (IST), so there is no daylight saving adjustment to track for Dehradun. Yes. The ladder runs from beginner through intermediate and advanced to tournament prep and rating improvement, with dedicated age tracks for ages 5-8, 9-12, and 13-15. Each stage has clear goals, from finishing a first complete game to building a repertoire and converting training into events.

How will I know it is working?

Is it safe, and can I see the classes?
Classes are live online sessions your child attends from home, with a fixed coach and no unstructured chat. You can see what is covered through the weekly WhatsApp report, and you are welcome to sit nearby, especially for younger children, so you always know what happens in class.

Can we try before paying?
Yes. There is one complimentary 30-min demo in which the coach checks your child's level, so placement happens before you commit anything. Only after that session do you consider the starter pack of ₹2,500 for 8 classes.

What if we stop?
A Dehradun monthly plan still allows a full refund if you cancel within 48 hours of enrolling. The stretch after 48 hours and before the 3rd session stays pro-rated minus what was attended, then the month is kept and later billing can end. You keep the same coach if you continue, and leftover term sessions can still be finished after 7 days.

Everything runs on IST with no daylight saving shifts, so slots stay fixed. Is there a path to tournaments?
Yes. The Doon School hosted an inter-school chess tournament for 18 schools in July 2025, and Kasiga School hosted a later inter-school meet in April 2026. Ask Dev Bhoomi Chess Association about later state age-group play, and check the chosen event's requirements. On average, students reach a first tournament in about four months.

What do I have to do at home?
Very little is required of you. Younger children do best with five to ten focused minutes between classes, or a casual family game where you let them explain their choices. Older students save a game link and bring one honest question to class. The coach sets anything more specific.
