What this Amravati class is
ChessWize is a live online chess class for children aged 5–15, offered to families in Amravati. A named coach teaches on a video call and shared digital board; this is not an in-person branch.
ChessWize is online only and has no local centre in Amravati.
Who the format fits
It fits families with a beginner through a rated player who can keep a recurring IST time agreed after the level check, want a group capped at six or a one-to-one lesson, and want one regular coach. It does not fit a family that needs a walk-in classroom in Amravati.
A coach on your screen, not a long search across Amravati
Amravati anchors education for a wide stretch of Vidarbha, and families here are used to travelling for the right tuition. Chess should not be one of those trips. We teach live on video call, so your child trains with a coach without depending on whether one practices near you. Classes run in English or Hindi, and batches hold 4-6 students of similar strength, so nobody sits idle while someone else catches up.
Consistency is where the improvement comes from. Our promise to you is the same one we keep for every family: Same coach every session - no rotation. Coaches like Hrdyansh Pandey, Tarun Gupta and Aryan Pal set your child's weekly plan, and a WhatsApp report reaches you after every class. As one mother, Monika Iyer, told us: 'I don't know chess, but I can see exactly what she covered each week.'
Progress should lead somewhere visible. Maharashtra's state-affiliated school sports calendar covers chess at district level, and Vidarbha children, including those in Amravati, take part in it, so a plan can start months before the event. Across the programme so far we have coached 1,000 students; the average time from starting to first tournament is 4 months. Parents rate us 5.0 across 21 Google reviews.
Start without spending anything: your child gets a single complimentary 30-min demo, and in that same session the coach checks the level and confirms the right batch before you commit. The starter pack is ₹2,500 for 8 classes; regular plans afterwards run from ₹375 to ₹1,000 per class depending on the plan. In Amravati, the money risk on a monthly plan is the 48-hour cancel window after enrolling.
Chess in Amravati: halls, a school rapid, and who to ask
Amravati Chess Association is the MCA-listed district affiliate. It organised the GH Raisoni Memorial Amravati One Day Rapid Chess Tournament 2025 at Bajaj Mangal Karyalaya in Amravati. MCA's 2026 calendar listed the 2nd Podar International Chess Open FIDE Rapid Rating Tournament on 10 May 2026 in the city, and the AICF brochure named Podar International School Amravati on Badnera Road as the venue. Use those dated records when you ask the association which later event would suit a child.
Who runs junior chess here
- Amravati Chess Association. MCA's affiliates list names Amravati Chess Association, and chess-results names it as organiser of the 2025 Raisoni Memorial one-day rapid. [1][2]
- Maharashtra Chess Association. Its player portal offers new player registration, a registered-player list and ID-card download. [3]

Chess-results recorded this zonal DSO Under 17 Boys selection in 2025. Ask whether a later DSO circular exists before treating it as an entry route. [6]
Where to play
- Bajaj Mangal Karyalaya. Chess-results recorded this Amravati hall as the playing site of the 2025 Raisoni Memorial one-day rapid. [2]
- Podar International School Amravati. The AICF brochure for the 10 May 2026 rapid named this school on Badnera Road as the venue, in association with Amravati Chess Association. [5]
- Sant Dnyaneshwar Sanskrutik Bhawan. A circular for a one-day rapid on 28 June 2026 named the Art Gallery at this Morshi Road hall as the venue. [7]
From online class to a first tournament
- Contact Amravati Chess Association through MCA's affiliates directory and ask about age-appropriate notices.
- Treat Bajaj Mangal Karyalaya, Podar International School Amravati and Sant Dnyaneshwar Sanskrutik Bhawan as halls that already hosted dated events, and confirm the hall on any new notice.
- If someone mentions a DSO selection, request the circular instead of using the 2025 Under 17 Boys listing as a form.
- Read the registration line on the circular you choose. The 2026 state Under-13 circular required AICF and MCA registration for 2026-27.
Good to know
- On the AICF payments page, new player registration and renewal are valid from 1 April to 31 March of the accounting year.
- The 28 June 2026 rapid circular used the Morshi Road address for Sant Dnyaneshwar Sanskrutik Bhawan. Confirm that address if you travel to a later event there.

Class times for Amravati
Every class runs on India Standard Time, the same clock Amravati already follows. India does not observe daylight saving, so there is no DST shift to track: the window we quote in IST is the window your child attends. Coach availability through the week spans 9:30 AM-1:30 PM, 10:30 AM-2:30 PM, 11:30 AM-2:30 PM, 11:30 AM-3:30 PM, 12:30-5:30 PM, 1:30-4:30 PM, 2:30-5:30 PM, 4:30-9:30 PM, 4:30-6:30 PM and 5:30-8:30 PM IST. Tell us which of these suits your week, and we match a coach inside that window, with the same coach kept for every session.

Four phases: learn the board and legal moves; finish a complete game; use opening principles; find basic tactics and endings.
Recorded programme results
As of 2026-07-13, the trust record lists 1,000 students coached and 1,500 parents, with 4 district finishers in a cohort of 12 and an average of 4 months to a first tournament. These are past records, not a promise for one child.
How classes run
Your child keeps the same coach in a supervised small group, and a parent can sit in on any lesson. Read the full policy on the child safety page.
At home you need a laptop or tablet with a webcam and stable internet. Classes run in the browser. Setup details are on the online chess classes page.
The first meeting is a free 30-minute level check. Paid classes start only after you enrol and agree a recurring time.
The four published commitments
- Same coach every session — no rotation
- Full refund within 48 hours of enrolling on a monthly plan
- Complimentary 30-min level check before you commit
- Weekly WhatsApp report for every student
Refund wording is on the refund policy.
Eleven checks to make before enrolling
Each answer below is tied to the section that carries its proof, so a parent can verify the detail rather than rely on a slogan.
-
Check 1
Who teaches my child, and are they rated?
Whoever takes your child's class is a coach: we only put experienced coaches in front of students. Our coaching team includes Hrdyansh Pandey, Tarun Gupta and Aryan Pal. The same coach stays with your child every session, so the person planning the lesson knows the games from last week.
See coaches -
Check 2
How many children share the coach?
Batches are capped at 4-6 students, grouped so the children in the room play at a similar strength. A batch runs as a synchronized 12-week block with intense peer play, group calculation and team-based tactical work, rather than a coach talking over a large crowd. If your child needs full individual attention, the 1:1 Analyst Protocol is the private format.
See class size -
Check 3
Is there a real curriculum from beginner to rated play?
Yes. We run age tracks for 5-8, 9-12 and 13-15, plus beginner, intermediate and advanced levels, and dedicated tracks for tournament prep and rating improvement. Each track has a written roadmap: a 5-8 starter goes from feeling at home with the board to playing short complete games, while an advanced student works on calculation, repertoire and converting training into events.
See the curriculum -
Check 4
How will I know it is working?
Every student gets a weekly WhatsApp report from the coach. It covers what was taught, what your child did well, and what comes next, so you can follow progress without learning chess notation yourself. Between those reports and a 5.0 Google rating across 21 reviews, you are judging results on evidence, not on whether your child seems cheerful after class.
See progress reports -
Check 5
Is it safe, and can I see the classes?
Classes happen live on video call, from your home, at times you chose, so there is no commute or unfamiliar venue to worry about. You are welcome to sit within earshot, especially for the first sessions with a 5-8 year old. Afterwards, the weekly WhatsApp report tells you what was taught, and your child's coach is a named coach you can look up.
Read safety policy -
Check 6
Can we try before paying?
Yes. Start with a complimentary 30-min demo with no payment required, so your child meets the coach and plays before any money changes hands. We also do a complimentary 30-min level check before you commit, which places your child in the right batch. Mention any district school event your child is aiming for during the demo so the coach can plan for it from week one.
See the level check -
Check 7
What if we stop?
An Amravati monthly plan can be cancelled within 48 hours of enrolling for a full refund. Until session three a pro-rated refund minus classes already taken still applies, then the month is kept while cancelling stops future charges. Term leftover sessions can still be finished after a 7-day pro-rated window, and the free demo keeps the first look at teaching separate from a paid plan.
See refund terms -
Check 8
Will the timings fit our week?
Coach windows run across the day in IST, from a 9:30 AM-1:30 PM slot through midday options to evening slots such as 4:30-9:30 PM and 5:30-8:30 PM. That spread fits around school hours in Amravati. India stays on India Standard Time all year with no daylight saving changes, so the time you agree in the demo is the time class happens, every week.
See class times -
Check 9
What does it cost, exactly?
You begin with a starter pack: ₹2,500 for 8 classes. Regular plans after the pack run from ₹375 to ₹1,000 per class depending on the plan. The demo and level check are free, and in Amravati, the monthly middle path is a pro-rated refund minus sessions attended, after 48 hours and before the 3rd class.
See fees -
Check 10
Is there a path to tournaments?
A tournament-prep track rehearses event conditions, repairs the game plan and reviews evidence. Amravati Chess Association organised the GH Raisoni Memorial one-day rapid at Bajaj Mangal Karyalaya in 2025. Ask that association about later junior notices, and check the chosen event's requirements. On average, students reach a first tournament in about four months.
See results -
Check 11
What do I have to do at home?
At home, short and regular beats long. For a 5-8 year old, five to ten focused minutes, a family game, or two familiar positions is plenty; stop while the child is still interested. Older students should keep a record of one slower game and arrive with a single question about a position that confused them. The coach turns what happens at home into the next lesson's starting point.

The resilience piece was unexpected — and the real win.
“We signed up for chess. What Ishita got was emotional self-regulation. Month one was all about learning to lose without falling apart. By month three she was analysing her own games after tournaments, pointing out where she'd blundered, calmly. Her results followed. But honestly, the composure is what I'll remember.”

She used to cry after every loss. Not anymore.
“Anika was playing 'casually' on chess.com and hanging pieces every game. First month the coach just drilled Checks-Captures-Threats. The dashboard is what sold me though. I don't know chess, but I can see exactly what she covered each week. Her play sharpened on its own by week eight.”

Coach Ankit has been amazing for my 8-year-old. He’s super friendly and explains chess rules in a way kids actually get. My son looks forward to every Chesswize class now. He motivates him to do better without any pressure, and I’ve seen fast improvement in both his game and confidence. Highly recommend Ankit for young beginners!

Read on Google →Why the online format fits Amravati
Amravati is a district city in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra, known as a regional education and administrative centre with a university named after it and a mix of CBSE and state-board schools serving the wider district.
As a mid-sized city, Amravati has fewer specialist chess coaching options than a metro like Mumbai or Pune, and finding a coach within easy driving distance is not always possible. Live online coaching removes that constraint by connecting your child to a qualified coach over a video call instead of a physical address.
Local chess context
Vidarbha's schools, including those in Amravati, take part in Maharashtra's state-affiliated scholastic sports calendar, which covers chess at the district level. A child here training under a consistent coach can prepare for these events even without a local academy nearby.
Amravati functions as a regional university and education centre for a wide part of Vidarbha, drawing students in from surrounding towns rather than the other way round. A child here training online is not limited to whatever chess talent happens to be locally available — the coach comes to them instead.
Online and offline choices
If a family happens to know a good local chess tutor in Amravati who fits their schedule, an offline arrangement can still work fine. For most families here, where dedicated coaches are genuinely scarce, online classes are the more dependable option — same coach every week, without depending on local supply.

Questions from parents in Amravati
Where can I look up an Amravati chess contact?
MCA's affiliates page lists Amravati Chess Association, so that directory is the starting point for local enquiries. The same association organised the 2025 Raisoni Memorial one-day rapid. For an older child, chess-results also recorded an Amravati Zonal DSO Under 17 Boys selection in 2025. Ask the association which notice applies to your child's age, and read that notice for who may enter.
Which Amravati halls appear in the tournament records?
Chess-results recorded Bajaj Mangal Karyalaya for the 2025 Raisoni Memorial one-day rapid. The AICF brochure named Podar International School Amravati on Badnera Road for the 10 May 2026 rapid. A 28 June 2026 rapid circular named the Art Gallery at Sant Dnyaneshwar Sanskrutik Bhawan, Morshi Road. Confirm the hall printed on the notice you enter.
Do state events ask for both MCA and AICF registration?
The Maharashtra State Under-13 selection circular for 2026 required participants to hold both AICF and MCA registration for 2026-27. That is a specific event requirement, so read the circular for the competition you choose. MCA's portal includes a registered-player list and ID-card download, which can help you organise the paperwork. AICF Payments sets the registration year from 1 April to 31 March.
How much does chess coaching cost for kids in Amravati?
It starts at ₹375 per class, and a free 30-minute demo is available first so you are not paying before seeing how the coach works with your child. Miss a class without notice and it counts as delivered; give 4 hours notice and a free make-up is booked.
Is there an offline chess academy run by ChessWize in Amravati?
No, ChessWize has no physical centre in Amravati — coaching is entirely live and online, through experienced coaches on video call. A weekly WhatsApp report to the parent keeps you updated on what was covered.
My child is preparing for a district-level school chess event — can online coaching help with that?
Yes, a coach can plan lessons around an upcoming event once they know the timeline, focusing on the areas that will matter most in tournament play. Mention the event during your free demo so the coach can factor it in from the start.
Do you teach in Marathi, or only English and Hindi?
Classes are conducted in English or Hindi. If your child is more used to Marathi at home, it helps to mention this during the free demo so the coach can keep explanations simple and clear in whichever of the two languages suits your child best.
Do you teach chess in Marathi for children in Amravati?
Your child can learn in either English or Hindi. If your child is more used to Marathi at home, mention it during the free demo; the coach will keep explanations simple and clear in whichever of the two languages suits your child best.
Is there a ChessWize centre in Amravati we can visit?
No. ChessWize has no physical centre in Amravati; coaching is entirely live and online, through experienced coaches on a video call. Your child gets a coach without the drive, and you get a weekly WhatsApp report showing what was covered each week. For a city where dedicated coaches are scarce, online is the dependable route rather than the compromise.
What does my child need at home for online classes?
A laptop or tablet with a stable connection, a real chess board for practice, and a notebook. Keep the device charged and the login ready before the session starts so class time is not lost to passwords or missing pieces. For a first session with a 5-8 year old, plan to sit close by; once the routine is familiar, the coach handles the class directly.
How soon will we see improvement in our child's play?
Habits change first: an early focus on checks, captures and threats typically shows up as fewer blunders within the first month or two. One ChessWize mother wrote that her daughter's play had sharpened on its own by week eight. First tournaments usually come around the 4-month mark on average, once the child has enough reviewed games to handle event conditions.
What happens in the free 30-minute demo session?
The coach meets your child on a video call for a light session of play and questions, then tells you where the child's chess stands right now. You can raise school timings, language preference and any upcoming district event. Nothing is charged, and you decide afterwards whether the starter pack makes sense for your family.
Which ages and levels do the batches cover?
We teach children from 5 to 15. Placement runs through the free level check: a five-year-old who has never seen a board and a thirteen-year-old preparing for a school event land in different groups with different roadmaps. Batches are small, so a coach can adjust pace for each child rather than teaching one fixed script to everyone.
Can classes prepare my child for a district-level school chess event?
Yes. Share the event date during the demo and the coach can plan lessons around it: reviewing the format, sharpening calculation, and playing practice games at a realistic pace. Children across Vidarbha, including Amravati, take part in Maharashtra's state-affiliated school sports calendar, so preparing for these events is a normal part of the programme.
What happens if my child misses a scheduled class?
Life gets busy, and a missed week should not cost you money. In Amravati, a class cancelled 4 hours ahead gets a free make-up; a no-notice miss counts as delivered. Tell the coach as early as you can, and the weekly WhatsApp report will still keep you up to date with what the batch covered.
