FIDE opens 2026 U7 to U17 Rapid and Blitz entries in Cairo

FIDE and the Egyptian Chess Federation opened entries on 11 September 2026 for the World U7 to U17 Rapid and Blitz Championships in Cairo. Arrival is 8 December 2026. Departure is 15 December 2026.

Under 7 to Under 17, Open and Girls

Players compete in Under 7, Under 9, Under 11, Under 13, Under 15 and Under 17. Each band has an Open section and a Girls section. The official site lists 11 rapid rounds at 15 minutes plus 5 seconds a move, then 11 blitz rounds at 5 minutes plus 3 seconds.

FIDE member federations file the entries

National federations may enter as many players and accompanying people as they want. The cut is 1 November 2026. An Indian parent should ask their state association or the AICF to send the federation entry before that date. FIDE-endorsed academies still go through the national federation. The Egyptian Chess Federation is the channel for registration and hotel bookings on the official site. FIDE's 11 September announcement links a registration form and names [email protected] as the contact.

A first-place winner from the last world rapid and blitz cadet and youth event in Under 9 through Under 17 keeps a personal right. That player may enter the same age band or a higher one if they still satisfy the cut on 1 January 2026.
