FIDE listed the 18 in August 2026 classical order: Carlsen world no. 1, Fabiano Caruana no. 2, then Vincent Keymer, Wesley So, Anish Giri, Nodirbek Abdusattorov, Arjun Erigaisi, Alireza Firouzja, Praggnanandhaa R, Jan-Krzysztof Duda, Richard Rapport, Hans Moke Niemann, Ian Nepomniachtchi, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Haik M. Martirosyan, Vladislav Artemiev, Bibisara Assaubayeva, and Vaishali Rameshbabu. Norway Chess created the tour. FIDE approved it.

Chess.com reported that eight of the world's top 10 and 14 of the top 30 appear in that initial lineup. The remaining six names are due in September.

24 players across three clocks

Twenty-four players open in four groups of six. Each group is a double round robin over five days. That is ten Fast Classical games each. A win is three points. A draw is one. A nine-round blitz Swiss sets tie-break order before the groups start.

Fast Classic is 45 minutes plus 30 seconds a move. Rapid is 15 minutes plus 10 seconds. Blitz is 3 minutes plus 2 seconds. Knockout matches run over two days and mix four blitz games, two rapid games, and one Fast Classical game. A tied match goes to Armageddon.

The 2027 circuit will run four events in different cities and crown a FIDE World Combined Champion. FIDE said pairings, prize money, and broadcast plans come in the coming weeks. Carlsen said he looks forward to playing in Budapest this year.
