What this Aizawl class is
ChessWize is a live online chess class for children aged 5–15, offered to families in Aizawl. A named coach teaches on a video call and shared digital board; this is not an in-person branch.
ChessWize is online only and has no local centre in Aizawl.
Who the format fits
It fits families with a beginner through a rated player who can keep a recurring IST time agreed after the level check, want a group capped at six or a one-to-one lesson, and want one regular coach. It does not fit a family that needs a walk-in classroom in Aizawl.
Chess classes for Aizawl families, without the ridge drive

Your child joins a live online class with a coach, in a skill-matched batch of 4-6 students or one-to-one, learns for the session, and is back at the dinner table without anyone driving down the hill in the dark.
Teaching is done by experienced coaches — Hrdyansh Pandey, Tarun Gupta and Aryan Pal — and the coach who meets your child in the first session is the same coach in every session after it. You do not have to play chess yourself to follow along, because our promise is a Weekly WhatsApp report for every student, spelling out what was taught and what comes next.
One mother put it plainly: "I don't know chess, but I can see exactly what she covered each week." That visibility is deliberate. Each level, from ages 5-8 through beginner, intermediate and advanced, has a written roadmap, so you can see the step your child is on and the one ahead: safe move habits, forcing lines, a working repertoire, then tournament conditions when the time comes.
Pricing is stated up front: the starter pack is ₹2,500 for 8 classes. Regular plans afterwards range from ₹375 to ₹1,000 per class by plan. Dengthuama Indoor Stadium, Mualpui, Aizawl, from 16 December 2025, and fielded the largest contingent, 103 players, in a field of 280 from North Eastern states. The association also organised the 45th Robula Chess Trophy Rapid Rating Open 2025 from 14 to 16 August 2025 at Ramhlun Indoor Stadium, a nine-round event with 79 players from across the country.

How classes run

Batches are capped at 4-6 students, grouped so peers are similarly rated: highly collaborative learning with intense peer-play, group calculation and team-based tactics, in 12-week synchronized batches. Is there a real curriculum from beginner to rated play?
Yes. Levels run from ages 5-8, 9-12 and 13-15 through beginner, intermediate and advanced, plus tournament prep, rating improvement, an online summer camp, group and one-to-one tracks. Each level has a written roadmap, so a beginner finishes complete games and opening principles while an advanced student deepens calculation and converts training into events.

Is it safe, and can I see the classes?
Classes are live online sessions your child attends from home, so you can be in the room or nearby whenever you want: no steep ridge-to-ridge drive after school or church, and no evening road trip in the rain. Sessions run in English or Hindi for ages 5-15. The complimentary 30-min demo lets you watch the format before you commit, and the weekly WhatsApp report shows what each class covered.

Can we try before paying?

What if we stop?
Leave a monthly plan in Aizawl within 48 hours of enrolling and the charge is a full refund. After session three there is no refund for the current month, though cancelling stops future charges.

Will the timings fit our week?
Coach availability windows run from a 9:30 AM-1:30 PM IST morning block to evening slots ending as late as 9:30 PM IST, so chess can sit after school, homework and family time. Ask that association about later play, and check the chosen event's requirements. On average, students reach a first tournament in about four months.

What do I have to do at home?
Very little structure is needed from you. Younger children do best with five to ten focused minutes at a time: ask your child to set up the board, show how one piece moves, or solve two familiar positions. Save one game a week for class and note any rule that caused an argument at home. The coach turns that into the next lesson's starting point.

Aizawl is the capital of Mizoram, a hill city built along ridges with steep roads and a high-literacy, education-focused society. Christian community life, strong school culture, and mountain geography define how families plan every weekday trip.
