Bookable class times for Melbourne
Our coaches teach from India. These are the weekly windows we can actually staff for Australia — shown in your local time and the coach's time (IST). You book a fixed weekly slot.
| Slot | Your local time | Coach time (IST) |
|---|---|---|
| Weekday after-school | Weekday after-school, 4:00–7:00 PM AEST (Mon–Fri) | 11:30 AM–2:30 PM IST |
| Weekend afternoon | Weekend afternoon, 2:00–6:00 PM AEST | 9:30 AM–1:30 PM IST |
Why Melbourne families choose online coaching
Greater Melbourne has Australia's largest India-born population, with growth corridors like Tarneit, Point Cook and the wider City of Wyndham among the city's major Desi family communities. Many of these families already look to India for tutoring and enrichment classes delivered over video, and a weekly online chess class fits that same pattern.
Because AEST runs 4½ hours ahead of India, a Melbourne child's regular after-school hours (4-7 PM AEST) land at 11:30 AM-2:30 PM IST — a normal working day for our coaches, not a late-night or pre-dawn slot. A weekend afternoon window (2-6 PM AEST, 9:30 AM-1:30 PM IST) is also available, giving families in Tarneit, Point Cook, Wyndham Vale and across the metro a choice of when the class fits best.
Honest pricing
ChessWize keeps one price list in Indian rupees (from ₹2,500 for 8 classes). Your card is simply charged the equivalent in your local currency at checkout, so there is no separate or inflated overseas rate. At recent rates that is roughly 6–20 AUD per class depending on the plan; the exact charge follows the live exchange rate.

Beyond the moves — the habits parents notice at home and school.
Focus that carries over
A full game is a 30–60 minute concentration workout. Coaches build it up gradually — most parents notice it first at homework time.
Confidence from real play
Wins are earned against real opponents, and losses get reviewed calmly with the coach — both build a child who isn't afraid to think.
Progress you can actually see
Every week your coach sends a WhatsApp report: what was taught, what improved, what to practise next.

Chess for kids in Melbourne
Chess in Victoria is organised nationally through the Australian Chess Federation, and Melbourne has an established local club scene alongside active school chess programmes, giving children in the western growth corridors and across the metro real opportunities to put structured coaching into practice.
Online vs local classes in Melbourne
ChessWize has no physical centre in Melbourne or anywhere else — every class is live online. If your child is already settled with a coach found through their school, that can keep working well. Online is worth considering when you want a specific FIDE-rated coach who isn't geographically close, or when you'd rather not add a coaching commute to an evening that already includes homework and other activities.

We had been searching for a chess class online for our sons. Suddenly on instagram , we saw the ad for chesswize and connected with the them. The demo was really good and we started the classes for our almost 4.7 year old son. Ankit Rajoriya Sir engaged him really well , he very knowlegeble in his field. His classes are well structured and he teaches the concepts in simple and engaging manner. My son has started loving chess and has started applying the strategies. The environment of the class is really positive where kids feel safe asking questions and their queries are answered well. We truly appreciate his professionalism, dedication, and commitment towards his students. We highly recommend Chesswize and Ankit Rajoriya Sir to any parent looking for chess classes for their kids.

We are very happy with the coaching at Chesswize, especially with our son’s teacher, Ankit Rajoriya. Ankit sir is a wonderful coach especially for younger kids.He knows the game deeply but also teaches with patience, encouragement, and real passion. He explains ideas in a clear and easy way, so children can understand and use them in their games. His classes are well-planned, fun, and motivating. Since our son started learning with Ankit sir, we have seen big improvements in his chess skills, thinking ability, focus, and confidence. He creates a friendly environment where kids feel comfortable asking questions and are inspired to keep getting better. We truly value his dedication and care for each student. Coach Ankit has been amazing for my 8-year-old. He’s super friendly and explains chess rules in a way kids actually get. My son looks forward to every Chesswize class now. He motivates him to do better without any pressure, and I’ve seen fast improvement in both his game and confidence. Highly recommend Ankit for young beginners!

Online chess classes in Melbourne: common questions
What do classes cost, and does living in Melbourne mean a higher price?
ChessWize keeps one price list in Indian rupees (from ₹2,500 for 8 classes). Your card is charged the AUD equivalent at checkout at the live exchange rate — not a separate or marked-up international rate. You can try a free 30-minute demo first, and unused classes in a package are refunded if requested.
Is there an offline ChessWize centre in Melbourne, or is it online-only?
Online only — ChessWize does not operate a physical centre in Melbourne or any other city. Classes run live over video with a real coach and a shared digital board, in small batches of up to 6 or one-to-one, so your child is actively playing and getting corrected in real time.
We're in Tarneit / Point Cook / Wyndham — will the schedule work for us?
Yes. The AEST/IST time gap applies across all of Greater Melbourne, so the same 4-7 PM AEST after-school window (11:30 AM-2:30 PM IST) and weekend afternoon window are available no matter which suburb you're in. You keep one fixed weekly slot with the same coach.
