Chess Gurukul Fees (2026): Online Classes ₹2,500–₹10,500/Month, GST Included

Chess Gurukul’s India online group classes cost ₹2,500 to ₹10,500 a month, GST included. That is the table they publish on their online-classes page, which I checked on 13 August 2026. Novice and Beginner are ₹2,500. Advance Beginner is ₹3,000. Intermediate is ₹3,500. Intermediate Advance 1 and 2 are ₹4,000. GM Junior is ₹6,500. GM Senior is ₹10,500. Regular batches are billed per month for eight classes. Their class terms add the parenthesis the online-classes note drops: monthly 8 classes (except senior groups). The GM Junior and GM Senior rows meet Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday — treat those two as monthly bills. If you only remember “around four thousand,” you are missing those GM-named rows.

Chess Gurukul online fees (India, GST included)#

Their header is FEE PER MONTH(INC GST). The note above the table says the fee is for per month. Each India batch is listed as weekly two classes, monthly eight. A fifth week is skipped, with a WhatsApp notice. That page-wide note has no senior-group carve-out. The same sentence on their class terms does: monthly 8 classes (except senior groups).

Stopping the story at ₹4,000 makes them look cheaper than they are. GM Junior and GM Senior sit on the same India table.

Per-session math (our division, not their published rate)#

Chess Gurukul does not sell by the session. For the two-day batches I am dividing their monthly number by the eight classes they state on the online-classes page and in the terms.

That ₹312.50–₹437.50 band is the Novice-through-Intermediate product — the rows listed on two days a week — if the child actually attends all eight. Intermediate Advance 1 and 2 list three weekdays on the timetable, including a Saturday combined session. Their page-wide note still promises eight classes a month, and the terms carve-out is for senior groups, not these rows, so ₹500 is a ceiling that assumes only those eight run. I am not inventing a 12-class count for Intermediate Advance. Both GM rows list Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The terms except senior groups from the eight-class rule, so I am not inventing a session count for those rows. Treat ₹6,500 and ₹10,500 as monthly bills.

What the monthly fee includes, and what it does not#

The monthly figure includes GST. Their class terms (checked 13 August 2026) say fees include GST at 18%, and that paid fees will not be refunded.

The same terms also state:

• Each batch has weekly two classes and monthly 8 classes (except senior groups).
• Group batches run with a minimum of 12 to 15 children — their terms publish a floor, not a cap.
• Group age is more than 7 and less than 15. One-to-one starts above 5.5 years.
• No makeup for a missed class.
• No demo for group sessions. One-to-one has a paid 60-minute demo.
• Group classes run in English, camera on.

The monthly class fee is not the only line. Their payments page lists a ₹1,000 registration fee for all offline and online groups. The card carries the same Month label as the monthly class cards, so whether it is a one-off or recurring is not stated anywhere we could fetch. Confirm it in writing before you pay.

Admissions are handled by form and email. They say a reply within two business days. Do not expect a WhatsApp admissions desk.

Online fees are not offline fees#

A parent who only sees the offline cards, or a search summary that quotes offline beginner numbers, will miss the online ladder including GM Junior ₹6,500 and GM Senior ₹10,500.

Offline and online sit in a similar rupee band. They are still different products. Offline cards on the payments page list Beginners ₹2,500, Advance Beginner ₹3,000, Intermediate ₹3,500, Advance ₹4,000. Their 2025 offline table also lists some Advance Beginner rows at ₹2,500, which does not match the ₹3,000 Advance Beginner card. I am not going to pick which of their own offline displays is “correct.” If you want a T. Nagar classroom, ask them which offline figure applies to your child’s batch.

Age, 1:1, and unpublished private rates#

Group: older than 7, younger than 15. One-to-one: older than 5.5. Those are their terms, not my guess.

They do not publish a one-to-one rupee rate on the pages I opened (online-classes, payments, admissions, terms). “What are the coaching fees for RB Ramesh?” has the same answer: there is no first-party 1:1 SKU with his name on it. Do not treat a counsellor quote as their published table.

If your child is heading toward rated events, the class fee is only one line. AICF registration, tournament entries and travel sit outside any academy invoice. Our tournament and rating pathway walks through that calendar.

Who the online product suits#

Chess Gurukul’s online group product is a batch with a minimum of 12 to 15 children, billed monthly, GST already in the figure, IST slots, English, camera on, no group demo, no missed-class makeup, fees non-refundable. Regular batches are eight classes a month; their terms except the senior groups from that rule.

That fits a family whose child is 8 to 14, can work in a large group, can hold an IST evening or weekend slot, and is comfortable locking the month once they pay. The GM Junior (₹6,500) and GM Senior (₹10,500) rows are for families already on that competitive track — treat them as monthly bills, not as an eight-class pack. Do not budget ₹4,000 if that is the batch they place you in.

It is a poor match if the child is 7 or under and you wanted a group seat, if you need a free group trial before paying, if you expect a refund or a makeup when school clashes with class, or if you want a small room where the coach can ask every child a question every session. A minimum-12–15 batch is a different product from a group of four or six.

Some listicles still quote Chess Gurukul far below their own table. Ignore those figures. Use the official ladder.

How this sits next to other published Indian fees#

I am not ranking Chess Gurukul against us or against anyone else. I am putting their published online numbers next to other published numbers so you can do the division yourself.

On a regular two-day, 8-class month, ₹2,500 ÷ 8 = ₹312.50 and ₹3,500 ÷ 8 = ₹437.50. Intermediate Advance at ₹4,000 ÷ 8 = ₹500 is a ceiling if only the eight classes in their page-wide note run. That band sits inside the Indian-parent ₹300–₹700 per group session range we use in the India fees comparison. A seat among at least 12–15 children is not the same product as a seat among five.

It is a real Chennai academy with a public online price list. Whether it fits depends on a group with a minimum of 12 to 15 children, eight classes a month on the regular batches (IST slots; their terms except senior groups), no free group demo, and non-refundable fees.
