Head coach is FIDE Instructor Sushruta Reddy, with 20 years of teaching experience across Bengaluru schools; the academy caps batches at 25 students and opens additional batches beyond that.
• Karnataka Chess Academy — co-founded in 2011 by International Master Shivananda Beleyur (peak FIDE rating 2467), with centres listed in Malleshwaram and Mahalakshmi Layout. Its online group coaching is published from ₹1,000/month, with a maximum of 15 students per class and smaller batches (5–8) at the entry level; the academy reports around 500 active students and 20 coaches.
• ZugZwang Academy (Bellandur) — founded in 2012 by Bharath Divyang, who left a banking career at HSBC to teach; runs chess alongside math, coding, Rubik’s and robotics programmes, and reports 50+ coaches and 5,000+ students mentored. Fees are not published on the site.

A coach’s checklist for choosing any academy#

1. Who teaches the weekly batch? The titled name on the banner and the coach in the room are often different people. Ask directly, and meet that person.
2. Batch size. Some Bengaluru academies publish caps (Innovators lists 25 per batch; Karnataka Chess Academy lists 15, with 5–8 at entry level). Whatever the cap, six or fewer per coach is where individual correction happens — ask what your child’s actual batch looks like.
